Data acquisition system is widely used in various fields of automated production, and plays an extrenmely important role in fault diagnosis,condition monitoring, performance evaluation and other aspects. At present, the combination of data acquisition system and industrial Ethernet technology is a current trend. Traditional industrial Ethernet has been criticized in the real-time problem, it is necessary to study the combination of new real-time industrial Ethernet technology and data acquisition system.EtherCAT is a new real-time Ethernet technology, with high data transmission efficiency, flexible topology structure, good price performance characteristics. Based on the excellent performance of the technology, a data acquisition system with EtherCAT industrial ethernet technology is designed in this paper. The master-slave network structure is used when the system is working. The master station is based on the PC and the software is used to control the host computer, the slave is consist of slave controller, PIC32 microcontroller and data acquisition module. The system realizes the data acquisition, and transmits the data to the host computer through the EtherCAT technology, which is suitable for the acquisition environment of the long distance and multi-collecting points.Firstly, the EtherCAT technology is studied in this paper, including its operation principle and protocol specification. Secondly, the overall design scheme of the data acquisition system is given, and the hardware part of the system is designed, including the choice of the chip and the design of the related circuit. Thirdly, the design of the system software platform is completed, including the station control software and the design of the slave application program. On the master station, TwinCAT 3 software is selected to control the slaves. The slave application program completes the task of data collection and data transmission. Finally, the simulation results show that the designed data acquisition system is stable and meets the requirements of data acquisition.
