For repairing the holes of 3D models and recovering the detail feature of the filled region,in this paper,we make full use of the geometric information in the vicinity of holes. In order to recover the overall detail features,a hole-filling method based on surface feature is presented.Firstly, the base surface of the missing region can be constructed using a dynamic programming scheme. Then,a layered shrinkage strategy is adopted to refine triangles from the boundary to the center region of the holes. For each triangle which meets the refine conditions,we will first adopt the least square method to fit the surface of its outer layers' mesh vertices, and then project its center of gravity onto the fitted surface, and select the projection point to refine the triangle.Experimental results demonstrate that our hole-filling method can effectively recover the overall detail feature of the missing region. In order to recover the local salient features,a feature-enhanced hole-filling method based on feature line is presented.Firstly,we detect and match the feature lines in the vicinity of holes. The matching method is promoting the curve matching technology in image to 3D surface.Secondly,a parametric cubic spline of cumulative chord length is adopted to reconstruct the missing feature lines in hole regions. Then,we use the above-mentioned hole-filling method based on surface feature to repair the hole regions initially. Finally,a bi-Laplacian system with feature lines constraints is adopted to smooth the boundary of holes and recover the local salient features in the filled region. This method realizes accurate matching between feature lines. The missing feature lines are explicitly reconstructed by cubic spines, which guarantee the accuracy of the recovered salient features.
