Effect Of Smart-phone Application On Complications Of Chemoradio Therapy In Patients With Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

Objective: To investigate the impact of smart-phone application on complications and quality of life of chemoradio therapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma.To investigate the feasibility of follow-up and intervention of patients after leaving the hospital using a smart phone Application for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.Methods: Between 1 March 2015 and 25 March 2016,132 NPC patients receiving radiotherapy in our department were randomly divided into two groups.Control group including 65 patients,use traditional oral Health education.Intervention group including 67 patients,use a smart-phone application after discharge.The smart-phone application is composed 5 module : personal information,the return visit alert,assessment of complications,knowledge base,interactions.The smart-phone application including disease-related knowledge,rehabilitation training and nasal irrigation video was established to conduct health education and dynamically manage discharged patients for promoting themselves complication management.General information was gathered at discharge.The compliance of rehabilitation training and nasal irrigation were investgated at 3 and 6 months after discharge.The use of smart-phone application was investigated at 6 months after discharge for Intervention group.Result: 1.The comparison of toxicity and complications between two groups There was no statistical significance between two groups of the rate of the incidence of oral cavity mucositis?the difficulty in opening mouth?dry mouth?hearing loss?stuffy nose.The rate of oral cavity mucositis?the difficulty in opening mouth?dry mouth?stuffy nose of intervention group was lower than control group,the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05),the hearing loss rate was no significant difference between two groups(p>0.05)at 6 months after discharge.2.The comparison of quality of life between two groups There was no statistical significance between two groups of functional area,syndrome area,global quality of ife.The intervention group scores of global quality of life were 42.14±10.64?72.03±10.07,and the control group scores of global quality of life were 44.15±13.31?60.15±12.17 at discharge and 6 months after discharge.Except cognitive function?dyspnea and financial difficulties,the rest area of quality of life of intervention group was higher than control group,the difference was statistically significant(p <0.05).3.The comparison of rehabilitation exercise compliance between two groups The intervention group of temporomandibular joint functional exercises compliance was higher than the control group at discharge and 6 months after discharge,the difference was statistically significant(p <0.05).At 3 months after discharge,there was no statistical significance between two groups of the nasal irrigation compliance(p >0.05).At 6 months after discharge,the intervention groups of the nasal irrigation compliance was higher than the control group,the difference was statistically significant(p <0.05).4.The use of smart phone application 96% patients can accept the push notifications function of smart phone to remind their regular recertification.89% patients think that the contents of smart phone application can satisfy their needs.87% patients used smart phone application once weekly on average.82% patients think that the best time of push notifications was in the evening.Conclusion: 1.There were lots of toxic side effects and complications patients with NPC of receiving radiotherapy,and they had poorer survival quality.2.Using smart phone application can greatly enhance compliance rehabilitation exercises and reduce toxic side effects and complications for patients with NPC of receiving radiotherapy at discharge.3.Using smart phone application can greatly enhance the patient' quality of life and satisfaction degree.It has feasibility.
