Since 2003,China Telecom began to launch PON network construction.In recent years,it has been committed to promoting the construction of FTTH.As continuous development of FTTH and the large-scale implementation of network construction,adjustment problems of specific implementation region will be emerged accordingly.Thus,it is very essential to learn and conduct more on-site investigations on geographical environment and climate factors according to specific FTTH network construction area;also we need to combine the technical characteristics of PON technology,so as to make scientific planning before constructing network.In this paper,based on the technology difficulties of Zhoushan telecom in the construction process of island optical networks,it mainly studies the method of using Microwave station connecting to the metropolitan area network in Zhoushan remote island areas,as well as a series of FTTH design and planning ideas that completed on the basis of GPON technology.In addition,it explains the access methods of metropolitan area network in FTTH construction process of island area,as well as detailed comparison of two kinds of PON technologies and network design of FTTH,and the design goals is to realize FTTH covering of the island areas,so as to achieve the purpose of efficient use of fiber optic cable and equipment resources through reasonable network design,finally to make a reasonable balance between cost and construction difficulty.Meanwhile,during the construction process,natural wind environment of Zhoushan island area also should be taken into the consideration,thus,a series of routes strengthening design have been carried out,in order to verify the feasibility of assessing metropolitan area network by using of microwave communication and application of GPON secondary spectral breaker deployment in FTTH construction.In the end,this paper also describes the purpose,test environment,test plan and desired results of GPON test,which provides a basis and reference for realizing FTTH covering.After completing network construction,a series of tests have been conducted according to methods and measurement tools for inspecting network performance.In these tests,it can be concluded that testing result of network time delay is normal;it is based on network mode of GPON technology secondary optical splitter.In addition,DBA template of GPON can be used in good,users download speed with 50 Mbits is normal,the time of ping DNS is 2 ms,and network jitter is 2 ms and packet loss rate is almost to zero,in the evaluation of link efficiency,GPON link efficiency may reach about 30%higher than that of EPON.At the same time,big data packet can even make a fast and efficient transmission.Besides,a series of tests have been passed in the hardware testing,and cable loss that uses of secondary optical splitter network is of 20dB.Within the normal level of pre-designed,it can completely meet the requirements of network construction and a variety of telecom business.Therefore,based on above test projects,GPON technology based FTTH reconstruction of island rural areas not only can achieve planning established requirements,at the same time,also GPON based networks can conduct all business in the area and meet a variety of business operations.
