Nowadays,China has raised its power and position in the world,but its image is unfriendly to most countries,for its international publicity is unable to keep pace with its development speed.To some nations on this planet,China is still a 'threat' to them,due to some highly influential news companies and presses controlled by the U.S.and some European countries.Thus,a news magazine that can match China's position and its policy is highly required.Beijing Review is the first news weekly of current policies in the history of New China.It aims to introduce China's political,economic and social development and Chinese government's major principles and policies to the world.Therefore,the analysis of Beijing review plays a decisive role in China's international publicity system.This paper focuses on how China was portrayed by the Chinese news magazine Beijing Review over the past five years.Using both quantitative methods and qualitative methods,it analyzed the inside stories about China's image in Beijing Review from 2012 to 2016,in order to set a theoretical example for others.
