With the rapid development of micro electromechanical system, network, wireless communications and related sensor technologies, wireless sensor network is increasingly widely used in military, environment monitoring and various fields of daily life. As the basic unit of the network, sensor nodes undertake the important tasks of data collection and transmission. Since the nodes own defects, such as limited energy, limited communication capacity and easily damaged, and often are deployed in complex environment, resulting in the sensor nodes are prone to be failure. Thus, in order to guarantee the normal operation of the network, timely fault detection of sensor nodes is needed to prevent the network to decrease or lose the predetermined function influenced by fault nodes.Under the background of the National Science and Technology Support Projects, this paper will conduct the study on fault detection of sensor nodes, which is combined with the existing theory and algorithm about fault detection of sensor nodes in wireless sensor network. The main contents are as follows:(1) Discuss the related theory and algorithm about fault detection of sensor nodes in detail, including fault of wireless sensor network, fault of sensor nodes and fault detection algorithm of sensor nodes based on different principles.(2) In view of the problem that the existing fault detection algorithm can't take into account the detection performance and complexity, the paper proposes a fault detection algorithm of sensor nodes in wireless sensor network based on trust degree of nodes. The algorithm evaluates the trust degree between adjacent nodes with the similarity of nodes' data, implements the fault detection based on the integration of trust and median, and finally finishes the task of fault detection about sensor nodes.(3) When event exists in monitoring area, the execution of fault detection about sensor nodes will misjudge some event boundary nodes, which increases the false detection rate. To solve the problem, the paper proposes a fault detection of sensor nodes with modifying the misjudgment of the event boundary nodes.On the basis of the fault detection algorithm of sensor nodes, the method uses Kmeans algorithm to detect the event boundary nodes, and modifies the misjudged nodes. The experiment results show that the algorithm can effectively detect and correct the misjudged event boundary nodes, so that it improves the detection effect and applicability.(4) The paper designs and implements a simulation system about fault detection of sensor nodes, which can effectively evaluate the effect of the fault detection algorithm. Meanwhile, due to the actual need of the project, the fault detection module of simulation system is applied to the actual project. The application results show that the fault detection algorithm of sensor nodes in this paper can correctly identify the fault nodes in the network, which has practical application value.
