With the rise and development of intelligent communications and wireless network technology,the potential application of indoor positioning technology in our daily life has been enhanced to a large extent.At the same time,the increasing demand on broadband access and the concept of green communications put forward the new challenge to the existing wireless radio communication.Visible Light Communication using the LEDs of environment protective and energy saving as light source is considered a technology having great development potential and application background.Due to its advantages that traditional positioning methods can not replace,indoor positioning system based on VLC becomes a heated research topic.This thesis is aiming at studying on indoor positioning system and its system implementation.This thesis initially summarizes the progress of study on VLC and indoor positioning technology research at home and abroad,followed with demonstration on the characteristics and applications of indoor positioning technology.In addition,a systematic analysis regarding visible channel models and several positioning methods is well developed and demonstrated.The design and implementation of indoor positioning systems based on LED-ID and RSS are respectively illustrated,including algorithm selection,positioning environmental analysis,system hardware architecture realization,software design and so forth.By sending the location through VLC system and covering the entire room with proper LEDs allocations,indoor positioning system based on LED-ID realizes the function of approximate positioning with the positioning accuracy of a room.By measuring the strength of the visible light signals at the receiver,the indoor positioning system based on RSS can estimates the communication distance and achieves calculating the location coordinates of objects in a specific positioning space.Additionally,the design of position information processing software is comprehensively analyzed and described,by which the PC receives measured data on the microcontroller in positioning terminal by serial port in man-machine interactive way,and achieves positioning function supported by background processing software.Besides,experimental tests for the realization of this system is conducted,the results and errors of the objects on the random coordinate point within the scope of positioning in the two positioning systems are measured and provided,the cause of the error are discussed in detail,and the feasibility and effectiveness of the design scheme are verified accordingly.This thesis studies the way to design VLC indoor positioning systems based on LED-ID and RSS,initially realized the function of indoor positioning,providing a experimental foundation and theoretical basis for the further study on more accurate indoor positioning and in a wider area.
