Carbon fiber velvet cathode is widely used due to the characters of good ablation resistance, long lifetime and little outgassing amount. However, at present the domestic fabrication exists such questions: low fabrication efficiency, fiber easily dropped under the condition of strong electric field, and so on. To solve these problems, the manuscript mainly researches fabrication of the carbon fiber velvet cathode and the working capability of the carbon fiber velvet cathode fabricated. The detailed contents include the follows:1?Fabrication of the carbon fiber velvetIn term of the fabrication, the technique of dispersing the agglomerate carbon fiber and the fabrication of electrostatic flocking are researched.Firstly, the technique of dispersing the agglomerate carbon fiber is put forward creatively. Namely, the combination of the liquid dispersion technology and the vibration dispersion technology. The experimental device to disperse the agglomerate carbon fiber is designed. The work efficiency to disperse the agglomerate carbon fiber is increased.Secondly, the fabrication of electrostatic flocking in carbon fiber velvet is improved. The configuration process and the coating process of the binder is optimized. The above technologies solve the problem of poor pasting of carbon fiber velvet.2?Research of the carbon fiber velvet cathode properties(1) The manuscript firstly researches the threshold of field intensity and the delay time in the process of starting the carbon fiber velvet cathode, as well as comparison with the chemistry fiber velvet cathode. The results shows that the threshold of field intensity of the carbon fiber is more stable than that of the chemistry fiber, and the delay time of the carbon fiber velvet cathode is shorter than that of the chemistry fiber velvet cathode by 5~10ns;(2)The article discusses the stability of the carbon fiber velvet cathode by comparing with the chemistry fiber velvet, the result manifests no obvious difference between them;(3) By combining the high-speed camera and the images of the digital processing technology, the average radial expansion velocity of the cathode plasma of different time period is analyzed and calculated. The results shows the average radial expansion velocity of the carbon fiber velvet cathode plasma is slower than that of the chemistry fiber velvet cathode;(4)The effects of the cathode materials on the outgassing of the diode is discussed. The result illustrates the outgassing amount of the carbon fiber velvet cathode is much less than that of the chemistry fiber velvet cathode.(5)The manuscript studies the properties of the carbon fiber velvet cathode utilized on the magnetically insulated transmission line oscillator under the condition of single pulse and repetition frequency respectively. The initial results declares that the out microwave power by the method of the carbon fiber velvet cathode is nearly the same with that of the chemistry fiber velvet cathode. In addition, the pulse width by the method of the carbon fiber velvet cathode is slightly less narrow than that of the chemistry fiber velvet cathode...
