As a kind of convenient transpor ting tool, taxis are playing an increasingly important role in our daily life. In recent years, capturing GPS data becomes more and mo re convenient and quickl y, owing to t he rapid development of wireless communication technology and the popul arity of smart mobile ter minals. It is available for us to provide 1 ocation-based services (LBS) for taxi-dri vers via GPS data. The approa ch can not only reduce the taxi s'fuel c onsumption, but also can im prove the profits of taxi-drivers. At the same time, it is beneficial to reduce the traffic load.In the existing methods, there are two defects:higher no-load rate of taxis or lower re commendation accuracy of pi ckup spots than ci tizens' expectation. Aiming at the precedi ng issues, an A ndroid system of recommending pick-up hotspots for taxi-drivers is devised and implemented by mining GPS trajectories. On one hand, it helps taxi-drivers be away from the areas with hi gher no-load rate; on the other hand, it can recommend pick-up hotspots more accurately and more rapidly than ever before. The main work includes:(1) A novel mechanism of pick-up hotspot recommendation is proposed. First, this method cluster taxi GPS data to obtain pick-up hotspots; then does taxi no-load analysis to generate load areas. Next, the results oft the first two steps were subjected to the intersection. This method takes into account both a higher probability of carrying the place or region, but also excludes a higher rate of empty places or ar eas, which can re commend taxi pick-up hotspots more accurate.(2) An Android prototype system is implemented to recommend pick-up hotspots for taxi-drivers. It is made up of two parts:the mobile client and the backend server. Mobile client is developed based on the Android platform, and it has five functi onal modules, which including taxi information management, taxi location sharing, taxi trajectories record, taxi no-load analysis and pick-up hotspots recommend. By prototype tests show, the above function modules can achieve the desired functionality. The system is not only to create favorable conditions to improve the situation of taxi operators, but also to play a positive role to reduce the traffic burden fight.
