Mobile sensor network, as a new research field in recent years, is composed of many sensor nodes which are capable of sensing, computing and communication. It has powerful ability of information acquisition and processing. So it is widely used in temperature collection, environment detection, intelligence transportation and other fields. Target estimation and tracking is a hot research direction at present. The difficulty lies in the fact that sensors may work in complex environment. Therefore, it is hard for a few sensors to track and detect the target status information in this situation. Furthermore, the number of the target may be one or several. How to overcome these problems and achieve the goal of tracking the target accurately and efficiently is the focus of our attention. To deal with these problems, this paper analyzes the algorithms that the mobile sensor network tracking a single target or multiple targets. In the case of a single target, we analyze the mobile sensor network tracking the target under three situations: a few sensor nodes can get the target status information, all the sensor nodes with the target status information and the specified sensor nodes with target status information. In the case of multiple targets, we analyze the process that how each sensor node tracks its target. In this paper, we use MATLAB to analyze the related theory firstly, and then design a software simulation platform to demonstrate the process that the mobile sensors track the target successfully and consensus is reached.
