The Functional Orientation And Responsibilities Of Independent Journalist Under Risk Society

Nowadays,the characteristics of risk society in chain become more and more significant.Public opinion mainly focus on social conflicts and potential social risks. Under the medicalization of society, communication of risk depends on the mass media. Meanwhile, the independent journalist which separated from media agencies obtain the right to speak again through the Internet. The function of independent journalist become increasingly important due to independent interviews and significant reputation.Firstly, this paper focus on development of independent journalist which evelopment divided into three stages: Embryonic stage; Initiation stage; Exploration stage. The conception of independent journalist is media professionals who work as journalist for free, the purpose of their work is the pursuit of social justice. It's worth noting that this definition is different from“Citizen reporter” or “Independent investigators”.Secondly, this paper draw the conclusion about operation and communication of independent journalist through specific case studies, including Jing Chai, Yongyuan Cui, Xue Jiang. There are two content nn the functional orientation, one is writing freedom and another one is the power of personal reputation.Finally, in the context of current media system legal policy, this paper research the responsibilities of independent journalist through several actual cases. In the personal level,including debate of public opinion; enlarge of personal symbol; side effect of public dialogue.In the Institutional level, including the lack interview right; the lack of media regulations; the lack of network communication standardized. The level of journalistic professionalism mainly focus on the importance of self-censorship.All in all, the paper discuss the advantages and obstacles of independent journalist through showing the growth environment of independent journalist in China, and ifferent it's special function from mass media. This paper finally settled in these questions: Whether independent media can alleviate panic of shortage of risk information, and stimulate public participation in the discussion about social risk issues, finally, making themselves has firm position and clear rights and responsibilities.
