The recent survey has shown that “reading” has been laid aside with the rapid social development in recent years. Under the fast paced and stressful lifestyle, people's interest in reading,the consciousness of cultural heritage, and the appeal for knowledge are gradually decreacing. And their access to information has also been gradually changing with the advent of new media.As the main media of mass communication,TV has penetrated all aspects of people's life, and plays a crucial role in their daily life. The emergence and development of TV reading program is encouraging people to continue to focus on reading with its abundance of audio-visual language, which means that they still have an desire atiitude to reading. However,the boring and single language, the plain and poor angle, as well as the overly entertaining and vulgar presentational style of TV reading,makes it a program like a flash in the pan, that can't stand for a long time on the screen.It is not enough to achieve a qualitative leap forward and complete the transition of TV reading program only with accurate positioning and media brand strategy. We have to start from the specific analysis and improvement of the language patternsof TV reading program, finding the basis for its long-term development.Focusing on the language of TV reading program,this research firstly analyzes the program and its language elements lengthwise by comparing the TV reading programs of the past and now, at home and abroad.Then, combined with the author's own graduate work “The Fragrance in the Pages”,it analyzes the language features of TV reading program specificly, including the voice language features and picture language features,and so on. Furthre more, it indicates the language dilemma and development strategy of TV reading program, and how to innovate the language of this kind of program as well. In general, this paper elaborates the content from the following aspects:The first part is introduction, which gives a general idea of the research background of the language of TV reading program and expounds the purpose and meaning of the research. Through inducing the study literature of the language of TV reading programs at home and abroad, the research methods of literature analysis, participant observation and case study are determined,and the innovation of the research is put forward.The second part is the brief overview of the program and the taxonomicstudy of its language elements, in which the voice and picture languages are analyzed specifically and meticulously combined with the existing TV reading programs, taking the media environment as time background.And in part three,taking the graduate work of the author“The Fragrance in the Pages”as study case,this paper conducts concrete and detailed analysis from the aspects of voice language features like host, commentary, and music, and picture language features like live footage,images and characters,and so on,which highlights its innovations.The fourth part, combined with research and analysis of the chapters above, proposes the language difficulties faced by current TV reading program, and suggests the development strategies of raising the awareness of language specification, strengthening self-discipline; improving the language attainment of the hosts, finding the program location, forming a unique style; and combining multilingual innovative forms of program.Part five is the conclusion. It summarizes the views expressed in the paper, gives a prospect for the the innovation and development of TV reading program, and points out the shortcomings of the paper.
