Three-dimensional reconstruction technology is a cross-technology of computer graphics, computer technology, virtual reality and other disciplines, using computer skill to collect the real world, after processing then show the objective world in the computer, the two key technical problems are how to get the exact point cloud data and registration algorithm between two point clouds. Now, this technology plays an important role in reverse engineering, heritage conservation, public entertainment, navigation path, virtual reality and industrial design applications. This thesis develops a point cloud data acquisition platform by Microsoft Kinect, studied for data acquisition, data preprocessing, image registration, point cloud registration and other issues, and take it with 3D printer, set up a Kinect-based rapid prototyping system. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1) Set up data acquisition system based on Microsoft Kinect. Capture depth and color data by Kinect, by analyzing the RGB camera and depth camera mode, an RGB camera and depth camera was calibrated, the acquired Depth information will be converted to the actual point cloud data, remove noise portion depth information by the bilateral filtering algorithms.(2) Proposed an improved point cloud matching algorithm to achieve a threedimensional reconstruction. Through compare the image feature extraction algorithm SURF and SIFT, surface normal estimation method and point histogram estimation method of the point cloud data feature extraction, give an improved point cloud matching algorithm to achieve the initial registration of point cloud data; Finally, take ICP algorithm for precise point cloud registration, generate entity three-dimensional after the completion of registration.(3) Build a rapid prototyping system based on the Kinect. Three-dimensional reconstruction system based on Kinect, print three-dimensional modeling, achieve reverse engineering, and finally realize rapid manufacturing through the 3D printer. The proposed three-dimensional reconstruction system has a low cost, easy to operate and does not require high-performance computer to processing data and so on. The system provides a solutions of desktop rapid manufacturing system, offers a choice for the 3D printer enters public life.
