The competition between city and city with the urbanization process gradually increased obviously;at the same time,along with the economic globalization,the competition between the city no longer stay in the traffic communication,rich resources,infrastructure and other traditional competition pattern.Urban competition has become an important topic for all cities.A city needs to build its own urban identity to attract people's attention and to attract more people to the city through the spread and promotion of its image.A city hosting major sports events,especially in high level competitions to promote all aspects of the development of the city has been more and more recognized,more and more city to improve the city's sports events organized by the visibility and influence,to promote the development of city economy and culture.Hosting major sports events can be held to promote the city to actively shape their own image of the city,at the same time,with the help of large sports events and its visibility,enhance the attractiveness of the city,improve the city's reputation,to show the city's cultural spirit.The subject of this thesis focuses on the representative large-scale sports events held in Wuhan in the past three years.As an opportunity to promote and spread the image of Wuhan City,it has become an important way for Wuhan to publicize and display its good image.This paper is based on the understanding of the connotation of city image,using communication theory of Wuhan hosting major sports events spread on the image of Wuhan city and promote the comprehensive and in-depth study,and through the concrete example analysis of events organized to enhance the effect of the image of the city in the economic and society;At the same time,the media is the major sports events including the Olympic Games and the success of the judge,had an important impact on the tournament organizers and the host city image promotion,according to reports in the dissemination of events lack the image of the city of Wuhan in the process of sorting out the opportunity for City image communication problems in the process of event organizers and the use of media,mainly for:First,news reports,sources and influence are not enough;Second,the lack of coverage before and after the event;Third,the activities of information construction,publicity is not enough.Inview of these deficiencies,the author puts forward some strategies and suggestions to improve and perfect the propaganda and reporting of Wuhan city through sports events:Firstly,clear positioning of Wuhan city image,a new image of the city to create a historical culture and modern combination;Secondly,to fully reflect the agenda setting function,open multiple reporting mode,increase publicity efforts;personality characteristics of third prominent city image;Finally,sustained effect and make full use of brand competition effect,reputation effect reached Wuhan city image communication.
