The cultivation of teenagers' independent learning ability is one of the requirements of quality education,the focus of current subject teaching and the demand of the whole society for highly competent talents in the future.Biology is one of the natural science subjects in senior high school during whose teaching process great importance are attached to the cultivation of students' independent learning ability,which has an essential significance for students' future application as well as the cultivation of their learning interest.Therefore,the active cultivation of senior high school students' independent learning ability during the teaching of biology is critical for students' future development.By learning the relative theories on the cultivation of independent learning ability and combining them with his own teaching experience,the author believes the cultivation of independent learning ability should be reflected on each course of everyday teaching and continuously penetrate the theories of independent learning ability through multiple aspects,and thus suggests the following three strategies for the cultivation of students' independent learning ability:(1)the cultivation of strong interest;(2)the guidance and application of proper learning methods;(3)the guidance and application of proper experiment teaching methods.The application period of those strategies lasted for one school year with the students of author's three classes in the same grade as the research object.During the whole research process,documentary study method,experiences summarization method,survey method,statistical analysis method and other research methods were employed.The relative strategies were adopted in the teaching practice of the experimental class and the biology exam results,the atmosphere of the biology class,the students' learning interest for biology and their independent learning ability of biology were evaluated and analyzed respectively.The research results show:(1)The students' exam results improved after the application of the independent learning method;(2)The class atmosphere became more active and alive after the application;(3)The students' learning interest for biology grew after the application;(4)The students' independent learning ability improved after the application.
