Numbers,hieroglyphs and language are similar,because of their common background purpose-recording and transmitting information.Therefore they play important role in our lives.But in teaching Chinese as a foreign language sphere there is no intent attention to them,also because of mother tongue interferes,there are so many mistakes made by Russian speakers while using mathematical symbols in Chinese.The article mainly focuses on using frequent mathematical symbols in Chinese language by Russian speakers and their mistakes.The research paper mainly review three important aspects: historical and cultural development of mathematical symbols,comparative analysis of using mathematical symbols in Russian and Chinese culture,comparative analysis of mistakes made by Russian students while using frequent mathematical symbols.Finally,throughout the vast research on cultural and historical development of mathematical symbols,their differences in Russian and Chinese culture and according to the research questionnaire results,we made reasonable suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.At the same time,we hope through this study increase the importance of teaching and learning mathematical symbols from the point of Chinese language research field.The article has following five parts:In the first part we explained the purpose,goals,current conditions and methods used in the research paper.In the second part we did a vast research on historical development of mathematical symbols and how history influenced on some cultural aspects of Russia and China.Also explained why we consider numbers-mathematical symbols.In the third part we introduce the culture of mathematical symbols and differences in using mathematical symbols in Russia and China,introduce Russian speakers' mistakes in writing,listening and spelling.In the fourth part we applied the research results gotten from teaching practice in Confucius Institute in Novosibirsk State Technical University(Russia)and made comparative analysis of mistakes made by Russian students in using mathematical symbols.Finally,found three categories of mistakes made by Russian students: “wrong order”,“omitting” and “addition” mistakes.In the fifth part we made reasonable suggestions for teaching Chinese as a foreign language: reduce literal translation,increase comparative apprehension and create strong cultural understanding of mathematical symbols.We hope to help Russian students to understand and overcome difficulties with expressing and using mathematical symbols in Chinese language.
