Objective:To evaluate the surival and toxicity of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)treated by intensity-modulated radiotherapy(IMRT).Methods:From July 2012 to December 2016,150 patients with biopsy-proven,non-metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)who were initially treated with intensity modulated radiotherapy(IMRT)at the Cancer Hospital of Ningxia Medical University were analyzed retrospectively. The Kaplan-Meier method was used to calculate the overall survival rate,no distant metastasis rate.Log-rank test was used for univariate analysis and COX risk regression model was used for multivariate analysis. Results:The median follow-up time was 35 months(range 3-64 months),and 5 cases were lost. The follow-up rate was 96.7.26 cases died,13 cases had distant metastasis and 2 cases had local recurrence. In 1 years,3 years,5 years of OS were93.3%?83.2%?74.8%;DMFS were 96.5%?92.2%?77.5%;LRFS were 99.3%?98.4%?98.4%.The most common acute adverse reactions during radiotherapy are dry mouth, skin reaction, oral mucosal reaction, and bone marrow transplantation.Among them, grade I and II of dry mouth were 98.6%,and grade III was1.4%.Grade I of skin reaction was 84.7% and grade II was 15.3%.Grade I and grade II of oral mucosal reaction were 96%,grade III and grade IV were 4%.Grade 0,grade I and grade II of bone marrow suppression was 62%,grade III and gradeIV were 38%.The possiblefactors affecting the prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma the single factor analysis showed that T stage,N stage, clinical stage were risk factors of nasopharyngeal carcinoma OS;multi factor analysis showed that age, clinical stagewere prognostic factors of OS.Conclusions: Compared with conventional radiotherapy,IMRT increased the overall survival rate and local control rate. The most common acute adverse effects of IMRT were dry mouth, skin reaction and oral mucosal reaction.Hematological toxicity. The adverse reactions were mostly grade I and II.Age,T staging and N staging were all risk factors affecting OS of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The later the clinical stage was,the lower the overall survival rate was.The older the age,the worse the long-term prognosis.
