ObjectiveThis study investigated the prevalence of olfactory disorders of people in the region by questionnaires.Through undersdanding the prevalence of olfactory disorders in Ningxia area and analyzed the risk factors. The new idea of the pathogenesis of olfactory disorders was developed. It can improve the attention of the nasal doctors to the patients with olfactory disorders and the quality of life of patients.MethodsUsing random sampling to investigate the olfactory questionn aire survey of 2,200 people who met the inclusion criteria, the effective qu estionnaires were collected in 1972.Used EPIDATA3.1 software input data a nd SPSS19.0 statistical software analysis of all data.ResultsWe investigate 2200 local resident population aged over 18,t-ake back 1972,including 904 males and 1068 females. The number of pati-ents with olfactory disorders was 93.The overall prevalence rate was 4.7%,the maleprevalence rate was 3.9%and the female prevalence rate was 5.4%.The epidemiological characteristics of olfactory disorders are:the prev-alence of olfactory disorder increases with age.The prevalence of olfactory disorders in different age groups has statistically significant(c2=141.772,P<0.05);The prevalence of olfactory disorders in different gender groups has n’t statistical difference.(c2=2.648,P>0 0.05);the prevalence rate of olfac-tion about the han nationality and other minority groups was 4.0%and 6. 4%.The prevalence of minorities increased significantly, analysing has signi-fycant differences(c2=4.885,P<0.05);The incidence of olfactory disorders i-n the brainwork group has significantly higher than that of other working g roups, and the difference was statistically significant(c2=40.029,P<0.05);T here was no statistically significant difference in the prevalence of olfactory disorders in the southern and northern regions of Ningxia(c2=0.285,P>0 0.05).The prevalence of olfactory disorders in smoking and nonsmokers grou ps hasn’tstatistical difference.(c2=1.911,P>0.05).The prevalence of olfa ct-ory disorders in dringking and no-dringking groups hasn’t statistical differ e-nce.(c2=1.194,P>0 0.05);The olfactory group had more chemical cont a-ct than the normal olfactory group,Statistical analysis showed significant d-ifference(c2=36.268,P<0.05);The detection of metal dust exposure group was higher than that of normal group, the chi-square test has statistically significant(c2=47.870,P<0.05);The incidence of olfactory disorders was 20.2%in people with nasal diseases and 0.9%in people with no nasal disea s-es.The analysis showed significant statistical difference(=260.363,P<0.05).There has a high prevalence of olfactory disorder in the group with abn or-mal taste which was 40.3%,the normal taste was 3.5%.They has statistic all-y significant difference(c2=195.417,P<0.05).Multiple factor Logistic r eg-ression analysis results showed that the aged, minorities, brainwork,Chro nic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps, exposure to chemicals, meta l dust exposure, abnormal taste and so on are the most common risk factors in Ningxia area.Conclusions1.The prevalence of olfactory disorders in Ningxia area is4.7%,lower than that of foreign countries.2.The prevalence of olfactory disorders in Ningxia area increased with age.3.The prevalence of olfactory disorders in Ningxia area in minority, brainwork, nasal disease, exposure to chemicals and metal dust and abnormal taste were higher than han nationality, manual worker,no rhinopathy, without exposure history and normal taste.4.Gender,smoking,drinking and the differences in the northern and southern regions had no significant effect on the prevalence of olfactory disorders Ningxia area.5.The aged, minorities, brainwork,Chronic rhinosinusitis, allergic rhin-it is,nasal polyps, exposure to chemicals, metal dust exposure, abnormal tas-t e and so on are the independent risk factors in Ningxia area.
