Research On Chemical Constituents And Bioactivities Of Valeriana Jatamansi And Commiphora Myrrha

Valeriana jatamansi Jones is a perennial herb,which widely distributed in China and India.The roots of V.jatamansi have been traditionally used for treating various diseases such as sleep disorder,nervous disorders,obesity,etc.Commiphora myrrha(Nees)Engl.belongs to Commiphora genus in the family Burseraceae,which is the dry resin of Commiphora myrrha Engl.and Commiphora molmol Engl.and mainly distributed in the arid regions of Ethiopia,Kenya,the Arabian peninsula and somalia.It has many medicinal powers and has been used to treat various diseases,such as blood stagnation,inflammation diseases,fever or relieving swelling and pain.In order to discovery novel and bioactive natural compounds,this thesis made a comprehensive chemical components research on Valeriana jatamansi Jones and Commiphora myrrha(Nees)Engl.respectively.49 compounds were isolated by many chromatography methods,such as cold soak,silica gel column chromatography(CC),Sephadex LH-20,MCI gel,thin layer chromatographic(TLC),preparation thin layer chromatographic(PTLC),semi-preparation high performance liquid chromatography(semi-preparation HPLC).And the structures of the 49 compounds were elucidated by extensive analysis methods(optical rotation,IR,UV,HRESIMS,1D and 2D NMR,and single-crystal X-ray)and by comparison of their NMR data with those of related compounds.The ethanol extract of the roots of V.jatamansi were separated by various methods to get 34 compounds,including 15 iridoids,5 sesquiterpenes,1 monoterpenoid,1triterpene,4 steroids,4 lignans and 4 other compounds.Three of them are new iridoids,one of them is new natrual iridoid.The ethanol extract of the C.myrrha were isloated to get 12 sesquiterpenes,2 triterpene,1 steroid,1 other compound,and one of them is a new sesquiterpene.Finally,we have summarized chemical compositions and biological activities of V.jatamansi Jones,which will provide basis for traditional Chinese medicinal purposes development value and the screen of new medicine.
