| Objectives:To investigate the relationship between exhaled nitric oxide(NO)and pulmonary function, age and more in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).To study the difference between exhaled nitric oxide in acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and Asthma-COPD overlay syndrome for taking a better measurement to diagnosis ACOS.Methods:Part Ⅰ:A total of 210 AECOPD in-hospital patients were recruited. The general data, personal history, the exhaled nitric oxide results and pulmonary function test results were collected.Part Ⅱ:22 patients with ACOS were classified as ACOS group,69 patients with asthma were classified as asthma group, while the 210 patients with AECOPD and non asthma were classified as pure AECOPD group in the same period. The general data, personal history, the exhaled nitric oxide results and the lung function were collected before treatment. Results:Part Ⅰ:1.The FeNO was 20(14.75,30.00)parts per billion(ppb)in 210 patients with AECOPD,which 21(15.50,30.00)ppb in the male group and 18(12.50,28.00)ppb in the female group.2.The difference in FeNO values among different age groups was statistically significant(P <0.01).As the age of AECOPD patients increases, their FeNO values show a downward trend.3.There were no significant differences in the FeNO values between the male groups and female groups, the smoking groups and the non-smoking groups, and the different height, weight, body mass index,FEV1/FVC and lung function grading groups(P>0.05).4.The linear regression analysis of ln(FeNO)as dependent variable.Course of disease, smoking history, gender, age, drinking history, body mass index(BMI),FEV1/FVC and FEV1% pred were used as independent variables.Age was associated negatively with FeNO values.Gender, height, course of disease, weight,BMI,smoking history, alcohol consumption history, pulmonary function(FEV1/FVC,FEV1%pred)had no significant correlation with FeNO.Part Ⅱ:1.There was no significant difference in age and gender between ACOS group,AECOPD group and asthma group(P>0.05).2.The levels of FEV1% pred and FEV1/FVC for group of ACOS were no significant difference with group of AECOPD(P>0.05).3.The FeNO value of ACOS group was significantly higher than those in AECOPD group(P <0.01)and lower than those in asthma group(P <0.01).4.When the FeNO cut point was 27 ppb,the increase rate of FeNO in AECOPD group was significantly lower than those in ACOS group(P <0.01),while there was no significant difference in the increase number of FeNO cases between ACOS group and asthma group(P>0.05).Conclusions:1.Age was associated negatively with FeNO values in patients with AECOPD.While gender, height, course of disease, weight,BMI,smoking history, alcohol consumption history, pulmonary function(FEV1/FVC,FEV1%pred)had no significant correlation with FeNO of AECOPD patients.2.FeNO detection has certain clinical value for the auxiliary diagnosis of ACOS. |
