Objective:The aims of this study are to investigate the expression of Speckle-type POZ protein(SPOP)in colorectal cancer(CRC)and explore its clinical characters in this kind of disease.Methods:93 cases of the colorectal cancer tissues and adjacent normal tissues were collected in the first affiliated hospital of Nanchang University from October,2016 to December,2017.We used immunohistochemistry(IHC)to detect the expression of SPOP in CRC specimens and matched adjacent noncancerous tissues.Chi-square test were used to evaluate the relationship between SPOP expression and clinical pathological characters.Results:44 specimens were detected SPOP positive expression in CRC(47.3%)compared to 83 in adjacent tissues(89.2%),the difference was statistically significant(P <0.001).The high expression rate of SPOP in CRC was 17.2%(16/93)while65.6%(61/93)in adjacent tissues with a significant difference(P<0.01).Statistically difference of low expression rate were detected in the poor(6/6),moderate(62/68)and well(9/19)differentiated groups(P < 0.001).SPOP was low expression in 75.9%clinical stage Ⅰ / Ⅱ group while 94.3% in stage Ⅲ / Ⅳ group(P=0.023).14cases(22.59%)were detected SPOP high expression in 61 cases without lymph node metastasis, while 2(6.25%)of 32 in lymph node metastasis group(P=0.043).Low SPOP expression rate were statistically different between patients with(100%)and without(80.49%)distant metastasis groups(P=0.023).SPOP expression intensity were not significantly correlated with sex,age histology type and lesion site.Conclusion:1.SPOP were low expression in colorectal cancer specimens.2.Expression intensity of SPOP were significantly correlated to differentiation, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis.
