Objective:The objective of the study was to determine whether markers of bone metabolism and advanced glycation end products(AGEs),as determined by skin autofluorescence(SAF),are related in male patients with T2 D.Methods:116 men with T2 D participated in the study.Associations of P1NP、OC、β-CTX、Ca、P、25OHD、PTH with Advanced glycation end products were examined using Spearman correlations. Results:Advanced glycation end products was inversely associated with OC(r=-0.20,P <0.05)and β-CTX(r=-0.26,P <0.001).There was no relationship between Advanced glycation end products and other markers of bone metabolism. Conclusions:The accumulation of advanced glycation end products may reduced bone formation and resorption in diabetes, and affect various factors including bone cell, matrix, mineralization, material properties, microstructure, and microdamage accumulation, and that these factors may ultimately contribute to diabetic skeletal fragility.
