Dental implant is an effect rehabilitation of tooth-missing.Enough bone is a premise and safeguard of successful operation. But loss of tooth can cause atrophy of the alveolar ridge and soft tissue.Extraction is the common reason of tooth-missing.Alveolar ridge preservation put biomaterials into fresh extraction sockets and cover membrane on it through guided bone regeneration(GBR),which is to slow down or preclude the absorption of the alveolar ridge. How to make effective comparison and right choice is a disputation among scholars. In this review,to make sure comprehensive understanding,we will focus on the effects of different graft materials on ridge preservation after tooth extraction to illustrate the alveolar ridge preservation from three points:theory basis, material basis, clinical application and skill basis. Then,we choose ten participants who receive Bio-Oss or Bio-gene in alveolar ridge preservation, analyzing the data changes of the ridge height and width from Cone Beam Computed Technology(CBCT)the day and 5 months later. The result is two materials are both effective and the difference is not significant. In the end,we choose and analyze 5 cases to illustrate the effect and value of two materials on ridge preservation after tooth extraction.
