Objective: To observe the clinical nursing efficacy of Fu Yang-can combined with massage on treating pediatric cough(Lung Qi Deficiency type),evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of this TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine)treatment method,and to provide a new approach for the care of children with lung Qi deficiency type cough.Methods: In this study,84 cases of children with cough due to deficiency of lung-qi were included in the study.All were from May 2016 to November 2017 when they visited a pediatric outpatient in Hubei Provincial Hospital of TCM,which met the clinical diagnostic criteria of cough in children and the characteristics of lung-qi deficiency syndrome.Using a random number table method,children with cough were divided into a test group and a control group according to the order of admission to the hospital,the number of children in both groups was 42.and there was no significant difference in statistical analysis of the basic conditions such as gender and age of the two groups.The children with cough in the experimental group were all treated by trained medical staff using the combination of Fu Yang-can combined with massage technique,the control group was treated by general nursing method of TCM,The observation period of the two groups was 2 weeks.The scores of TCM symptom scores and cough,sputum,and auscultation in the lungs before and after the test were recorded in two groups of children with cough.Through comparison of the total effective rate after intervention of the two groups and the improvement of each symptom,to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Fu Yang-can combined with massage therapy in the treatment of children with cough due to deficiency of lung qi.Results: The effective rate of Fu Yang-can combined with massage therapy in the treatment of children with cough due to deficiency of lung-qi was 97.6%,which was significantly higher than that of the control group(90.5%).After comparison within the group,there was a significant difference in the improvement of children’s cough,sputum,pulmonary signs,and TCM symptom scores in the test group;the children in the control group showed significant improvement in the syndromes of TCM except that the symptoms of shortness of breath and speech.After comparison between groups,in addition to the syndrome of shortness of breath and speech,the combination of Fu Yang-can and massage methods was superior to conventional nursing methods in improving the symptoms of TCM,cough,sputum,and physical signs of the lungs,with significant differences.No adverse events occurred during the observation period in both groups of children.Conclusion: Both the treatment of Fu Yang-can combined with massage and the methods of conventional nursing of TCM can effectively intervene in children with cough due to deficiency of lung qi and have good safety,but the former is more effective.And the therapy of Fu Yang-can combined with massage in children with cough can avoid problems such as difficulty in taking medicines for children and the possible side effects associated with oral drugs,so it is worthy of clinical application and promotion. |
