Effects Of Continuing Wearing Orthokeratology Lens On Corneal Epithelium

Objectives: To observe the effect of continuous wearing orthokeratology on corneal epithelium.Methods:Observe the uncorrected visual acuity,diopter and average corneal curvature,corneal epithelium of the patients after wearing lens 1W,1M,3M and 6M,based on retrospective studies of the adolescent cured by the orthokeratology lens in our hospital during November of 2014 to the June of 2016.Results: There were sixty-three patients(117 eyes)wearing lens more than six months brought into,including low myopia group(-0.75 ~-2.75 D)53 eyes and moderate myopia group(-3.00~-5.75 D)64 eyes.The uncorrected visual acuity of the patients were increased after wearing lens 1W.Meanwhile the diopter and average corneal curvature of the patients were reduced.The uncorrected visual acuity were relatively stable after wearing lens 1M,3M and 6M.And the diopter and average corneal curvature were gradually declined by wearing lens.There were nine cases of Grade I in the corneal epithelium injury during the time of wearing lens,and two cases of Grade Ⅲ in the corneal epithelium injury.There were general nine cases of Grade I in corneal epithelium injury,including two eyes after wearing lens 1W,two eyes after wearing lens 1M,two eyes after wearing lens 3M,and three eyes after wearing lens 6M.There were two cases of Grade Ⅲ the corneal epithelium injury totally,including one case after wearing lens 1W,and another case after wearing 3M.There are four cases in low myopia group,and seven cases in moderate myopia group occured corneal epithelium injury.By analyzing the cases of the corneal epithelium injury,five cases occurred by improper operations(two cases happened during taking lens shift in the morning,two cases happened during scratching after lens shift,one case happened by action violence),four cases occurred by the incomplete care solution flushing,two cases occurred by the incorrect of fitting the lens.Conclusions: There are partly patients will occur corneal epithelium injury after wearing orthokeratology lens.The incidence of disease in the moderate myopia group is much higher than in low myopia group,The main causes are the improper operations and the changing status of fitting lens.
