ObjectivesTo investigate the psychological resilience, coping style and the related influencing factors of parents of children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis(HSPN),and to clarify the psychology and caring feelings of the parents of HSPN children, aiming to provide a theoretical basis for the psychological intervention for parents of children with HSPN and promote the rehabilitation of the children.MethodsThe convenience sampling method was used this study, and the parents of children with HSPN were chosen during the period from April 2016 to January 2017 in the Department of Pediatrics of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan TCM university that all met the inclusion criteria. The researcher in the study, after admission to all the voluntaries and signing the informed consent, told the purpose of the investigation to the parents of children. The general information questionnaire,Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)and Coping Health Inventory for Parents(CHIP)were all filled followed the notes and guidance as a tool. The clinical data of the disease were obtained by the researcher by consulting the hospitalized records. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics,t test, variance analysis and Pearson correlation analysis by SPSS 19.0 software package.11 parents of children with HSPN were selected by the purpose sampling method, and the interview was conducted in the form of semi structured in-depth interview.Data collection methods:personal interviews, observations, notes, etc.,the content of the interview will be recorded and transcribed into text.Data collection, transcriptional and data analysis were carried out at the same time.Data were analyzed by phenomenological analysis and guided by the analysis results. When the information of the interview content is saturated, the new interviewees are stopped.Results(1)This study investigated a total of 162 patients, after testing the questionnaire and scale of eligibility and eliminating the 16 copies of unqualified questionnaires and scales,a total of 146 parents of HSPN children were included in this study finally. The age range was between 22~47 years, with an average of 32.05±4.52 years old,and the number of children of 25~35 years old was 82,accounting for about 52%of the total. The average score of resilience scale is 56.37±11.62,among them, the average score of tough dimension is 24.88 ± 7.21;the average score of self-reliance dimension is 18.21±5.33;and the average score of optimism dimension is 13.28 ±4.07.It is found that the resilience score of parents of children with HSPN is lower than that of normal adults, and it is affected by occupation, marital status, residence, education.level, family income, medical expenses payment and other factors(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference in age, relationship with children and whether he/she was the only child(P>0.05).(2)In the response to the role of coping style, the average score was 68.26±5.68,the average score of subscale 1,subscale 2 and subscale 3 is 32.07±6.21,23.46±7.13 and 12.73±5.68,respectively.In terms of the usage frequency of and the functional effect,t test results showed that parents of children with HSPN preferred subscales were subscale 1(Maintaining family integration, cooperation, and an optimistic definition of the situation),followed by the subscale 3(Understanding the medical situation through communication with other parents and consultation with medical staff),and the subscale 2(Maintaining social support,self-esteem and psychological stability)is the third choice, with a significant difference(P<0.01)statistically.In terms of the coping style of parents of children with HSPN,the one-way ANOVA showed that there were significant statistical differences in age, occupation, marital status, whether the only child, residence, education level, family income, medical expense payment and physical condition of other family members(P<0.01),but there was no statistical difference in the relationship with the child(P>0.05).(3)On the relationship between psychological resilience and coping style of parents of children with HSPN,all the parents of children with HSPN in the low and high score group considered that the subscale 1 were most help to maintain normal family life, the subscale 3 and subscale 2 were second and third,respectively(P<0.05).However,parents in the low score group thought the subscale 3 and subscale 2 had no significant difference(P>0.05).In terms of the usage frequency, the low and the high score group were most likely to the subscale 1,and for the subscale 2 and subscale 3,the low score group were more likely to the subscale 2,while the high score group were more likely to the subscale 3(P<0.05).(4)Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative correlation between the level of resilience in parents of HSPN children and the duration of disease(r=-0.166,P=0.046),the recurrent frequency(r=-0.683,P=0.000),24 h urinary protein(r=-0.897,P=0.000)and serum creatinine(r=-0.741,P=0.000).In terms of the parents’ resilience and children’s conditions, while the resilience level was relatively high in pa-rents of the children with HSPN who had relatively short duration of disease, low recurrence rate, low 24 h proteinuria and low serum creatinine level;the resilience level was relatively low in parents of the children with HSPN who had relatively long the duration of disease, high recurrence rate, high 24 h proteinuria and high serum creatinine level(P<0.05).(5)The interview data was analyzed and a total of 4 themes were refined:Firstly, the anxiety of the prognosis of disease;Secondly, under a lot of pressure;Thirdly, the continuous self adjustment and adapt to the change; The last, facing difficulties together.Conclusions(1)The resilience level of parents of children with HSPN is generally lower than the average adult level, and it is affected by occupation, marital status, residence, education level, family income, medical expense payment and other factors;(2)In the treatment of children with HSPN,parents with the high level resilience tend to positive coping styles to seek medical and social assistance, but the parents with low resilience is relatively prone to negative coping styles and less seek medical and social help;(3)There was a certain degree of correlation between the level of resilience and the development of HSPN in children. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out appropriate psychological intervention to improve the resilience level of HSPN children’s parents in the course of diagnosis and treatment in HSPN children and better promote the rehabilitation of children.(4)Most parents feel anxiety and stress after the onset of HSPN.Improving the cognitive level of HSPN,self adjustment and facing difficulties together with the family can play a positive role in the timely diagnosis and treatment of HSPN children and the relief of their parents’ anxiety.
