| Aims:The aim of this study was toinvestigate and evaluate the treatment effects of implant anchorage and orthodontic closure in intrusion and retraction the upper incisors and canines. Methods:Twenty patients(aged from 18 to 30)presented overgrowth of upper anterior teeth and gummy smile were collected, whose two upper first premolars were designed to be extracted.Ten patients were received implants and ten by orthodontic closure. After intrusion and retxaction, the change between pre-treatment and post-treatment was comparedthrough the lateral cephalometrics, models and photos of smile and profile. Results:For the patients received implants, there was significant change on the alteration of 1-PP,1-SN angle and 1-SN(P<0.01),and decreasing of the distance between upper and lower lips(P<0.01).For the patients received orthodontic closure, there was significant change on the alteration of 1-SN angle and 1-NA(P<0.01),however,increasing of Ptm-6 received an adverse alteration(P<0.01).Conclusions:Micro-implants is more efficient than orthodontic closure of anterior teeth intrsion and extraction.Implants shows the advantages for the patients with gummy smile and high mandibular plane angle. |
