| ObjectiveThe incidence of breast cancer in China obviously keeps rising in recent years. The optical tomography image ultrasonography system(OPTIMUS)is gradually applied in clinical as a new imaging diagrnostic technique. The target of this study was to evaluate the value of OPTIMUS in distinguishing benign or malignant breast tumors,by measuring maximum hemoglobin concentration(MHC)and with the help of the results of controlled pathological results.MethodsThis prospective study included 380 cases of breast tumors(210 benign and 170 malignant)treated from April 2009 to April 2014.Measured the MHC and detected the expressions of PECAM-1/CD31 and VEGF by immunohistochemistry,we calculated the optimal threshold of MHC in predicting breast malignancy with the ROC curve, and analyzed the correlation of the MHC value with benign and malignant lesions, lymph node metastasis, and the expressions of PECAM-1/CD31 and VEGF.ResultsThe MHC was higher conspicuously in the malignant(215.33±69.31umol/L)than in the benign lesions(116.50±55.31umol/L,p<0.01).The area under the ROC curve(AUC)was 0.836.The optimal thrreshold valve in diagnosis of malignant lesions was 135.00μmol/L,the sensitivity was 84.7%and the specificity was 89%.And the MHC was higher observably in malignant masses with lymphatic metastasis and VEGF,PEC AM-1/CD31 positive expression than those negative groups(p<0.05).ConclusionMHC measured by OPTIMUS is conducive to the diagnosis in differentiating benign and malignant breast lesions. The value for preoperative assessment and the prognosis of breast cancer is significative. |
