ObjectiveTo conduct micro-CT scanning to extracted teeth by AH plus root canal sealer plus continuous wave obturation technique and iRoot SP root canal sealer plus single root cone obturation technique, evaluate their state of root canal filling and analyze the filling ratios.Materials:40 intact mandibular first molars extracted clinically were selected. After cutting the pulp and dredging the root canal as usual, working length was measured.Protaper preparation method was used to prepare all the mesial root canals to F2,BLX file roots to 35#.Prepared root canals were randomly divided into two experimental groups(20 each).Group A: 20 root canals filled by i Root SP root canal sealer plus single root cone obturation technique,Group B: 20 root canals filled by AH plus root canal sealer plus continuous wave obturation technique. After root canal filling, the samples were rebased with flowable resins.Cavities were filled with light-cured composite resins.X-ray examination was used after operation to make sure that all sample root canals were tightly filled. All samples were conducted with micro-CT scanning, analyzed and three dimensional reconstructed to assess the state of root canal filling and calculate the filling ratio.Data were analyzed by software package.Root canal filling ratio was analyzed with two sample t-test to determine whether the differences between the two root canal sealants were statistically significant. Conclusions:The filling ratio of iRoot SP root canal sealer plus single root cone obturation technique was similar to that of AH plus root canal sealer plus continuous wave obturation technique. The clinician can select different root canal treatment methods and materials according to the specific circumstances of the teeth. |
