Objective:Study the changes of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 in serum of acute coronary syndrome(ACS)patients and to explore their role and significance in the pathogenesis of ACS.Methods:Select 83 cases of hospitalized patients came from department of Cardiology and Geriatrics of the first hospital of Shanxi Medical University from March 2016 to September of the same year, who were diagnosed as acute coronary syndrome preliminarily and underwent coronary angiography after admission.Among the 83 cases, the coronary angiography showed that 61 patients with luminal stenosis more than 50%were in the case group(ACS group),22 patients with no obvious abnormalities were in the control group(C group). The 61 cases were divided into acute myocardial infarction group(26 cases)and unstable angina group(35 cases)according to the ACC/AHA diagnostic criteria ulteriorly.ELISA method was used to detect the content of MMP-9and TIMP-1 in serum of each group, and to compare the changes of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 in each group, and to explore their role and significance in the pathogenesis of ACS.Results:1.The content of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 in serum of ACS group were significantly higher than those in C group(P<0.05),there was no significant difference inTIMP-1 between ACS group and C group. The content of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1in serum of AMI group were significantly higher than those in C group and UAP group(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the C group and the UAP group. The content of TIMP-1 in serum of C group,UAP group and AMI group had no significant difference.2.The content of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 was positively correlated with the severity of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(r= 0.293 or r= 0.336,P <0.05).3.There was a positive correlation between the content of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 and the number of complex lesions in ACS group(r= 0.353 or r= 0.255,P<0.05).Conclusion:The increase of the content of MMP-9 and MMP-9/TIMP-1 in patients with CHD can reflect lability of the plaque and severity of the coronary artery lesion in a certain degree, and can be regarded as an important signal of ACS,and they can also contribute to assess the severity of coronary atherosclerotic heart disease.
