Objective: The major depressive disorder(MDD),as a serious life-threatening disorder, would appear suicidal behavior in 10%-15% patients.Suicidal ideation could be a significant risk factor for the suicidal behavior of MDD patients. The effective prediction and intervention of the suicidal ideation could reduce the suicidal behavior. The previous researches focused on the explorations of the suicidal ideation in MDD based on the social psychology factors. And the event-related potentials(ERPs)were only used to investigate the negative cognition and attention bias of major depressive disorder. However, slight studies did not pay attention to the EEG date of the MDD patients with suicidal ideation. Therefore, this paper aims to research the brain functional activity and electrophysiological characteristics of the MDD patients with suicidal ideation, through the methods of the resting-state functional Magnetic Resonance Image(rs-fMRI)and the event-related potentials(ERPs).Methods: According to sex-,age-and education-matched principle,we recruited our subjects in Mental Health Center, the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University, including 30 suicidal ideation depressed patients,30 non-suicidal ideation depressed patients(all the depressed patients are non-treatment)and 30 healthy controls.Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging maps were compared using fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation(fALFF)between 60 patients with MDD(30 with suicidal ideation and 30 without)and 30 healthy controls(HCs),the severity of depression was evaluated by Hamilton Depression scale;the suicidal ideation, the suicidal risk in depressed patients with suicidal ideation were both assessed by the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation, then made correlation analysis on the score of Hamilton Depression scale and the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation. We also recorded the ERPs of 30 non-treatment MDD patients with suicidal ideation when executing emotional Stroop mission.Results:1、The brain regions showing a difference between depressed patients with suicidal ideation and the HCs were in the left superior /middle occipital gyrus and the right middle/inferior occipital gyrus;Compared to the HCs,depressed patients without suicidal ideation showed a higher fALFF in the left middle occipital gyrus. The brain regions showing differences between depressed patients with suicidal ideation and without were located in the left middle occipital gyrus and the right middle occipital gyrus,The fALFF of left middle occipital gyrus and right middle occipital gyrus were positively correlated with the scores of Hamilton Depression scale;but there is no obvious correlated with suicidal ideation and suicide risk.2、The total average reaction time of MDD patients with suicidal ideation is statistical significance between the different word-facial task;there is no statistical significance for these potential periods of ERP related components P3 of MDD patients with suicidal ideation under four words-facial interference. There existed statistical significance for the amplitude of ERP related components P3 which under four words-facial interference. Both the scores of Hamilton Depression scale, suicidal ideation and suicidal risk in the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation were negatively correlated with the amplitude of P3.Conclusions: Depressed patients with suicidal ideation have an abnormal spontaneous activity in their left and right middle occipital gyrus and the increased activity in these brain areas is probably associated with the severity of depression.Besides, attention bias and cognitive function differences existed in different emotional-facial stimulus for MDD patients with suicidal ideation.
