Objective: To analyze the feature of gastric polyps under narrow-band imaging combining with magnifying endoscopy(NBI-ME),and the relationship of gastric polyps with Helicobacter pylori(H.Pylori)infection and background mucosa, providing valuable information to predict the pathological type of gastric polyps, judging the nature of lesions(benign or malignant)and finally guiding the targeted biopsy. Methods: The clinical features, endoscopic and pathological data from 336 cases with gastric polyps were collected. We have analyzed the location, patients’ ages characteristics of different histological types of gastric polyps.then discussed the relationship between336 gastric polyps and background mucosa, the relationship between 97 cases of gastric polyps and H.pylori infection, and the correlation between NBI-ME and histopathology in103 cases of gastric polyps.Categorical data were analyzed using chi-squared tests, and continuous variables were reported as their mean ± SD.Statistical significance was set at p-value below 0.05.Results: Gastric polyps were common in patients aged from 40 to 70 and the male to female ratio was 1:2.61.Gastric polyp was often single, less than 0.5cm in diameter,YamadaⅠandⅡ type(71.72%)and located in fundus as well as body of stomach(89.29%).The pathological patterns of gastric polyps were almost fundic gland and hyperplastic ones. These two types distributed in different parts of stomach, where fundic gland polyps were mainly seen in the corpus and fundus while hyperplastic ones occurred in variable parts, with statistical significance. However, there’s no difference in the two pathological patterns of patients with different ages.As to the rate of H.pylori infection, hyperplastic polyps(73.17%)was significantly higher than fundic gland ones(40.48%),with statistical significance. As for the appearance of gastric background mucosa, that of fundic gland polyps was chronic non-atrophic gastritis, accounting for 95.35% while that of the hyperplastic polyp was usually chronic atrophic gastritis(27.34%),which showed statistically significance.Under NBI-ME,the fine mucosal structures of adenomatous polyps presented as prolonged or ridge pattern and the micro vascular patterns was dense or core vascular pattern. The fine mucosal structures of inflammatory polyps showed as prolonged and micro vascular pattern was dense vascular pattern. While the fine mucosal structures of fundic gland polyps and hyperplastic polyps mostly presented as small round(83.72%)and prolonged pattern(84.45%),respectively.and their micro vascular patterns was usually honeycomb(83.72%)and dense vascular pattern(84.45%),respectively.The combined patterns were often shown as small round+honeycomb(83.72%)and prolonged+dense vascular pattern(82.22%),respectively.Furthermore,the appearance of these two polyps differed in the fine mucosal structures, the micro vascular patterns and the combined patterns statistically. Conclusion: Most fundic gland polyps are located in the fundus and body of stomach, while hyperplastic ones occurred in variable parts. The rate of H.pylori infection is higher in hyperplastic polyps than that of fundic gland ones. The vast majority of the background mucosa of fundic gland polyps under endoscope is chronic non-atrophic gastritis, the background mucosa of chronic atrophic gastritis in hyperplastic polyps are more than that of fundic gland ones. The appearances of these two polyp types are significantly different under NBI-ME.
