Alpinia zerumbet(Pers.)Burtt.et Smith is the plant of Alpinia.L.The fruits and leaves have various kinds of biological activities.the dry fruits can be used as a kind of medicine for nourishing the stomach in the south of China.the leaves also can be used as a kind of medicinal tea in Brazil.Recently,the review about A.zerumbet had been covered,but the information of its quality control and insecticidal activity less reported.By hydrodistillation,the essential oil of A.zerumbet were prepared.The essential oil obtained from the fruits of A.zerumbet was investigated by GC-MS.A total of 38components were identified and the main components of the essential oil wereβ-pinene(20.42%),β-phellandrene(13.31%),α-terpineol(5.73%),α-pinene(5.57%),d-cadinene(5.52%),A-cadinol(5.39%),g-cadinene(3.75%),caryophyllene(3.15%),T-cadinol(2.90%),T-muurolol(2.09%).The essential oil obtained from the leaves of A.zerumbet was determined by GC-MS.A total of 31 components were identified and the main components in the oil were o-cymene(14.86%)and eucalyptol(8.44%),followed by linalool(8.28%),caryophyllene oxide(7.62%),limonene(7.29%),camphene(7.23%),α-pinene(6.40%)and l-camphor(6.20%).β-sitosterol and methyl 5-phenethylfuran-2-carboxylate were isolated and identified.The method of quality controlling of A.zerumbet was established,compound methyl 5-pheneth ylfuran-2-carboxylate was selected as the content determination indexes by HPLC.the content of m ethyl 5-phenethylfuran-2-carboxylate was 1.8mg/g.the specificity and durability were demonstrated good;linear regression equation was Y=21560.44194+4455.87858×X(ng),(r=0.99997,n=6).the RSD of the injection precision test was 0.38%.the RSD of the solution stability was 0.2%,within eight hours,the solution relatively stable.the RSD of the recovery and repeatability was 0.87%and 0.43%,the recovery and repeatability were good.After screening,the essential oil exhibited potential insecticidal activity.the essential oil of A.zerumbet fruits showed strong fumigant toxicity against Tribolium castaneum with LC50 value of 4.82 mg/L,the essential oil of A.zerumbet leaves possessed strong contact toxicity against T.castaneum with LD50value of 6.59μg/adult;the essential oil of A.zerumbet fruits and leaves were found to posses strong contact toxicity against Liposcelis bostrychophila,with the values of 1.22μg/adult and 1.30μg/adult.α-Pinene,β-Pinene also possessed fumigant toxicity against T.castaneum with LC50 values of 12.15 mg/L and 15.22mg/L.camphene,limonene,eucalyptol showed strong contact toxicity against T.castaneum with LD50values of 5.13,14.97 and 18.83μg/adult,respectively.camphene possessed strong fumigant toxicity against T.castaneum with LC50 value of 4.10 mg/L;β-caryophyllene oxide also possessed fumigant toxicity against L.bostrychophila,with the value of 10.58 mg/L.Caryophyllene oxide,α-terpinene,limonene andβ-Phellandrene exhibited strong repellency against T.castaneum,eucalyptol,linalool showed strong repellency against L.bostrychophila,the essential oil of A.zerumbet fruits and leaves were found to posses strong repellency against L.bostrychophila.The results indicate that the essential oil of A.zerumbet have potential to be developed into a natural insecticide/fumigant for control of the T.castaneum.and L.bostrychophila.The results of chemical constituents,quality control and insecticidal activity studies of A.zerumbet provide the basis for the standardization and development of A.zerumbet. |
