Background and Objective:The research results about the risk of essential hypertension and bradykinin B2receptor(BDKRB2)-58T/C gene polymorphism was controversial. Therefore, our aim was to investigate the impact of BDKRB2-58T/C gene polymorphism on essential hypertension, trying to establish a comprehensive evaluation of this gene-disease association.Materials and methods:Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure,Wang Fang,,PubMed,EBSCO,Embase,ISI and the Cochrane Library were retrieved.Study selection, data extraction, and methodological quality of the articles were evaluated independently by two investigators.Cochrane RevMan 5.2 and STATA 12.0 were conducted for statistical analyses. Results:In the present analyses,13 trials were included.Overall analysis identified a significant relationship between the risk of essential hypertension and BDKRB2-58T/C gene polymorphism among dominant [odds ratio(OR),95% confidential intervals(95%CI): 0.74,0.58-0.94],homozygote(OR,95% CI: 1.66,1.11-2.47),recessive(OR,95% CI: 1.32,1.07-1.64),heterozygote(OR,95% CI: 1.23,1.06-1.43)and C-allelic(OR,95% CI: 1.22,1.05-1.42)genetic models. The correlation between the risk of essential hypertension and BDKRB2-58T/C gene polymorphism was observed in Asians under dominant(OR,95% CI: 0.72,0.56-0.93),homozygote(OR,95% CI: 1.78,1.09-2.90),recessive(OR,95% CI: 1.39,1.04-1.86),heterozygote(OR,95% CI: 1.26,1.07-1.49)and C-allelic(OR,95% CI: 1.24,1.04-1.49)genetic models.A significant correlation between the risk of essential hypertension and BDKRB2-58T/C gene polymorphism was observed in African-American under dominant(OR = 0.30;95% CI = 0.15-0.62),homozygote(OR = 3.79;95% CI = 1.82-7.85),recessive(OR = 1.57;95% CI = 1.05-2.33),heterozygote(OR = 3.32;95% CI = 1.56-7.10)and C-allelic(OR = 1.70;95% CI =1.25-2.30)genetic models.Conclusions:-58 CC genotype and-58 C allele might be associated with the susceptibility of essential hypertension.-58 TT genotype might be a genetic protection factors for essential hypertension.
