Objective: To investigate the expression of apoptosis related proteins Bcl-2 and Bax in the hippocampus of rats with occlusion loss and to analyze their correlation. Methods: four week old SD 50 rats were randomly divided into normal control group, three group, six, molar molar group and nine molar and twelve molar group, with ten rats in each group. In the occlusal loss group,20 weeks after the extraction of the corresponding teeth, the hippocampus was taken from the brain.HE staining method was used to observe the changes of cell morphology and structure in hippocampus of each group.Immunohistochemical staining was used to observe the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax positive cells in the hippocampus of each group. Results: in normal control group, the morphology and structure of brain tissue were normal, and there was no damage change.Three molar group cells had no obvious change;six molar group cell layers decreased, structure disorder;nine molar hippocampus nerve cells significantly reduce the number of cells;twelve molar group in hippocampus cells of neural cells decrease in the number of.Loss of occlusal support in the hippocampus Bcl-2 positive cells in brain tissue of each group were higher than the normal control group significantly reduce the loss of occlusal support in the hippocampus Bax positive cells in brain tissue of each group were higher than the normal control group increased significantly(P < 0.05).Conclusion: the apoptosis of the hippocampal cells in the brain tissue after the loss of occlusal support started the process of apoptosis and was related to the expression of Bcl-2 and Bax proteins.
