In this study,we analyzed quantitatively the correlation between the structural characteristics of language pathways obtained from diffusion MRI and performances of language functions by clinical data, and reconstructed the nerve bundles of subjects, and made the important language-related functional structure "Visualization." So that the surgeon can avoid these significant structures in the future operation, maximize the removal of the brain tumor and keep the corresponding language capabilities for cancer patients,in addition, reduce the risk of permanent language defects after craniocerebral tumorectomy.Furthermore, this study can enhance the cognition of language-related fibers in the brain, and lay the foundation for further study of brain function. In this study,20 subjects were recruited to collect 44 sets of data. This study reconstructed the fibers by constrained spherical deconvolution, and combined with tractography to get orientations of fibers.Tract-average and along-tract statistics method were used to analyze the correlation between language-related nerve fibers and language functions. In this study,we provided a quantitative analysis of the Pearson correlation coefficients and partial correlation coefficients between the four diffusion indices and six categories of BDAE scores, respectively, and then sort out the correspondence relationship between the fibers and the language functions.Along-tract statistics method utilizes the data tract-average wasted to supplement details of tract-average method. The different between this study and the previous studies are:(1)In order to overcome the shortcomings of the DTI,we used CSD technique to replace DTI to reconstruct the nerve fibers, which can combine with tractography to obtain more accurate orientations of fibers.(2)Previous studies have focused on MRI scan data of different subjects, usually ignored the comparison with language test results. Our data are collected from different patients with a brain tumor in the left hemisphere different stages of treatment.Notably, each subject stage includes BDAE consequences and MRI raw data, and the former reflects language functions of subjects, the latter can provide structural characteristics of the fibers. With the vast span of time and space of the data we collected, research can obtain more widely distributed than ever before.(3)Along-tract statistics method using the color-coded diffusion index to cover the average geometry of fiber bundles with the results of correlation coefficients to visualize,so that we can see a lot of internal details of nerve fibers which couldn’t find in traditional methods and provide a quantitative theoretical basis for further research.
