Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce is a herb which belongs to the genus Adenosma R.Br of Scrophulariaceae,mainly distributed in southern China such as Guangdong and Guangxi province.It is spicy,bitter,warm,gas incense,and slightly spicy taste cool.The best breeds is which has aroma and no impurity.Research shows that Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce contains volatile oil,terpenoids,phenols,amino acids,flavonoids.These are the main chemical constituents.The Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce has been used as traditional herbal which has been proved to have diverse biological activities,particularly sterilization,anti-inflammatory,dispel wind and trlieve pain,removing blood stasis and eliminating swell,detoxication and alleviate,etc.It have been used to treat for various ailments like polio early,catch cold and abdominal pain,Fengshi Gutong,in external injuries,sore carbuncle furuncle swollen poison,wasp stings,disease such as eczema,urticaria,which is a kind of medicinal plant resources of research value,etc.At present,there are less domestic studies on chemical constituents and activity ingredients of Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce.The objective of in this review article is to study the constituents of Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce,the constituents were isolated by repeated chromatography with silica gel,Sephadex LH-20,ODS columns and semi-preparing liquid chromatography.Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis.Twenty-one compounds were obtained from the ethanol extract of the herb of Adenosma glutinosum(L.)Druce,and identified as 5,6-didydroxy-7,8,4’-trimethoxy floavone(1),ursolic acid(2),betulinic acid(3),betulin(4),3β-hydroxy-urs-l l-en-13β,28-olid e(5),30-oxobetulinic acid(6),p-hydroxy-benzoic acid(7),trans-p-hydroxycinnamic acid(8),p-hydroxybenzaldehyde(9),1,3,5-trimethoxybenzene(10),3,5-dimethoxy-acetoph-enone(11),7-hydroxy-piperitone(12),muconic acid(13),β-sitosterol(14),stigmasterol(15),fumaric acid(16),physcion(17),palmitic acid(18),hexacosyl alcohol(19),sesamin(20),and precocene Ⅱ(21).Expect for the compounds 3,the other compounds were isolated from Adenosma glutinosum for the first time.Twenty-one compounds include a flavone(compound 1),five triterpenoids(compounds 2-6),five phenolic acids(compounds 7~11),a monoterpene(compound 12),two sterols(compounds15,16),an anthraquinone(compound 17),four organic acid(compounds13,14,18,19),two phenylpropanoids(compounds 20,21).The[~3H]tag liquid scintillation counting method is used to get PDE4 inhibitor activity of 13 compounds in vitro test.The phosphodiesteras 4(PDE4)inhibitory activity tests showed two triterpenoids,compound 2(ursolic acid)and compound 4(betulin)have inhibitory activity againt PDE4,with inhibitory rate of 72%and 77%at 10 μM,revealed anti-inflammatory activity.
