Objective To compare marginal fit between teeth and all-ceramic inlays made by optical impression and silicone rubber impression methods. Methods A mandibular second molar with normaly morphlogy was prepared according to the standards.Sixteen plaster models were created by silicone impression method and randomly divided into two groups. Two groups were treated with optical impression method and silicone rubber impression method modulus, and then made sixteen all-ceramic inlays respectively. The marginal fit was measured by SEM and the data were statistically analyzed with SPSS 19.0 software. Results SEM showed that all marginal measuring points were less than 120μm.The gap width of two groups was(46.25±5.04)μm and(77.52±11.71)μm,the difference was statistically significant between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Under the conditions of this study, the optical impression method had significant effect on marginal fit of all-ceramic inlay. The marginal fit of inlays made by optical is obviously better than which made by silicone rubber impression.Overall all-ceramic inlays appeared to have clinically acceptable marginal fit.
