| ObjectiveThe purpose of this paper was to understand Alzheimer's patients' caregivers of the status of the burden,family functioning and quality of life.To explore the main factors that the caregivers' burden influenced the family function and quality of life.To discuss the correlation of the dimensions of the caregivers' burden with family function and the quality of life.That we can discuss the feasible measures of reducing the burden of caregivers of taking care and improving the quality of taking care.MethodsIn March 2012-March 2013,to investigated Alzheimer's caregivers in the four levels of first-class hospital in Shenyang.Using self-made dementia patients Family nursing staff questionnaire,Zarit care burden scale,the Family Assessment Device and the Chinese version of the quality of life questionnaire,to investigated the family nursing staff.The data conforming used the mean and standard deviation for statistical description.Count data and rank adopted rate and percentage for statistical description.Data conforming used two independent sample T test or ANOVA,Pearson correlation analysis and Multiple regression analysis method were used to measure the relevance of the caregiver burden with family function and the quality of life and its'influencing factors.ResultsThe average ZBI score of 228 caregivers of senile dementia patients was(57.68±13,42)points,was moderately severe burden.The family function of total score of caregivers of dementia patients was(153.08±16.17)points,the family function was in a general level.Each dimension average score was higher than standard mean.The score difference of Dementia patients' caregivers,the overall quality of life,physical,psychological,independence,spirit/religion/faith with the domestic norm was statistically significant(P<0.01),these dimensions score of caregivers of dementia patients were lower than the domestic norm score.Burden of the caregivers' scores positively correlated with communication,role,behavior control and the overall function dimension scores,and they were statistically significant(r=0.136,0.131,0.168,0.131,P<0.05).In this study burden of caregivers' score negatively correlated with the four dimensions of quality of life(the total quality of life,physical field,social relations,environment)scores,and they were statistically significant(r=-0.157,-0.163,-0.201,-0.166,P<0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that:Night-time awakening times,disease types,weekly caring frequency,age,and whether someone in the family is suffering from dementia had influenced the caregiver burden.Night-time awakening times most affected ZBI average score,accounting for 55.2%.Monthly income,nursing cost and nursing time and so on had influenced different dimensions of family function.Caregivers' quality of life had influenced by patient's life self-care severe situation,whether to live together with patients and marriage situation and so on(P<0.05).ConclusionsThe burden of caregivers of dementia patients was moderate,the family function was obvious defects,the quality of life in many different aspects was lower than the general population.With the increasing burden of dementia care,the perceived family function was even worse in terms of communication,role,behavioral control and overall function.Taking effective measures of reducing the burden of care was to improve the quality of care for caregivers.Reasonable arrangements for sleep,care time and monthly care and other issues,which was to coordinate the interests of each other,increase the family within the cultural and entertainment life and strive to establish a positive emotional intervention.Second,the quality of life of dementia caregivers is poor in different aspects,so they should provide patients with more emotional and psychological care from their spouses and children,respect each others living space,and strengthen the caregivers' psychological health counseling. |
