| Objective This study preliminarily investigated the mechanisms of Guizhi Decoction treating cholinergic uticaira(Ch U)through clinical observation on symptoms,skin responsiveness to autologous serum and sweat,as well as serum total Ig E levels before and after treatment.Methods1.Clinical data Data were collected from a troop stationed around Wuhan.69 patients accorded with the diagnosis of Ch U out of 836 surveyed soldiers.20 of them volunteered the full involement in the whole procedure of the study.2.Treatment and methods Give oral administration of one dose Guizhi Decoction per day(150ml each time,adminitered at morning and evening)for 30 days.Autologous serum and sweat skin tests(ASST and ASw ST)and total serum Ig E levels were determined at before treatment,15 days and30 days after treatment respectively.Results1.Clinical research(1)Data attained after 15 days of treatment showed a 40% total effective rate;after 30 days,90%.Symptom score reducing index(SSRI)after 15 days demonstrated significant difference comparing with that after 30 days(P<0.05).The SSRI at 30 days after treatment obviously increased comparing with that at 15 days.(2)Symptom scores at 30 th day were statistically different from that before treatment(P<0.01),while no significant difference was observed between 15 th day and that of before treatment(P>0.05).2.Laboratory research(1)ASw ST after 30 days of treatment was significantly different from that of before(P<0.01),while none positive between ASST at30 th day and that of before(P>0.05).(2)Total Ig E serum levels at 30 th day,rather than at 15 th day(P>0.05),were identified statistical difference compared to that before treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion Guizhi Decoction is clinically promising in treating Ch U via regulating sweat,reducing wheal,lowering total serum Ig E levels.The formula modulates the immune function of the body and ameliorates the symptoms,which in all improves the living quality of patients. |
