BackgroundRadial styloid narrow tenosynovitis was a common chronic disease and had characters of repeated attack and prolonged healing,so that hand function was significantly limited and had a tremendous impact on patient quality of life.The disease in TCM theory belonged to the “tendon injury” category,which was largely caused by poor health,trauma,strain or cold dampness evil,etc.The patients suffering from radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis gradually increased currently,and had a younger age trend.There were many clinical treatments of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis,but those had not achieved a satisfactory therapeutic effect.ObjectiveTo evaluate efficacy and safety of local injection of ozone in treatment of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis and explore a new treatment by the objective assessment of the clinical efficacy and statistical analysis.Methods96 patients of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis met the inclusion criteria were randomly assigned into experimental group and control group local injection,with 48 cases in each group.3-5ml of ozone with a concentration of 30ug/ml was used in experimental group and diclofenac sodium emulsion external application in control group.All the patients experienced a total of 14 days treatment.We evaluated efficacy pre and post treatment of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis by observing of pain visual analogue scale(VAS),Cooney wrist score,clinical efficacy and patient satisfaction in both groups.Results1.Total effective rates were 95.83% and 83.33% respectively in experimental group with local injection medical ozone and control group with diclofenac sodium emulsion external application,there was significant difference between both groups(P <0.05);2.Analgesia effective rates were 91.66% and 72.91% respectively in experimental group and control group,there was significant difference between both groups(P <0.05);3.Effective rates of wrist function improvement were 93.75% and 70.8% respectively in experimental group and control group,there was significant difference between both groups(P <0.05);4.By follow-up,pain visual analogue scale(VAS)and Cooney wrist score of patients improved by different treatments in both groups,there were significant differences between pre and post treatment in both groups(P<0.05).Evaluation index of pain visual analogue scale(VAS)and Cooney wrist score,etc in experimental group significant improved compared with control group,there were significant differences between both groups(P <0.05).ConclusionsLocal injection of medical ozone and diclofenac sodium emulsion external application treated radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis can both achieve good results.Based on the effectiveness of treatment,clinical efficacy of local injection of ozone in treatment of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis is significant and long-term efficacy is better than that in control group with diclofenac sodium emulsion external application.It is a new treatment of radial styloid narrow tenosynovitis,and has a bright prospect and application value.
