| Objective:To study the express of signal transduction and transcription activation factor 3(STAT3) and Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase(ALK) in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma and adjacent tissue and its relationship with tumor clinicopathological features. The interaction of these two factors in laryngeal carcinoma development was also explored. The purpose of this study is to provide theoretical evidences for laryngeal carcinoma treatment. Methods:The expression of STAT3 and ALK protein were detected in 48 cases of laryngeal squamous carcinoma tissues and 20 cases of adjacent tissue(exceed 0.5cm distance from the tumour edge) by the immunohistochemical method. The relationship among this two factors and they clinicopathological parameters were also analyzed. Results : STAT3 protein in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma expressed at high levels. STAT3 protein expression mainly in the cytoplasm, the nucleus is also visible expression. Only one case of ALK protein expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, mainly in the cytoplasm. STAT3, ALK protein repectively expression rate was 77.1%(37/48), 2.1%(1/48).20 cases of adjacent normal tissue, the positive expression rates of both were 20%(4/20), 0%(0/20).STAT3 increased protein expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues compared with adjacent mucosa, the difference of this two groups were statistical significance(P<0.01). ALK increased protein expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissues compared with adjacent mucosa, this two groups had no significant difference statistically(P>0.05). laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma of Stat3 in the expression, patient age, gender, clinical classification, lymph node metastasis and other factors unrelated, this groups had no significant difference statistically(P>0.05). The expression clinical STAT3 protein in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma of the staging, III-IV of laryngeal cancer positive rate in stage I-II, the difference of this two groups were statistical significance(P<0.05). The expression of STAT3 protein in laryngeal cancer was related to the degree of differentiation of the tumor, and the positive rate of differentiation was higher, the difference of this two groups were statistical significance(P< 0.05).Conclusion:STAT3 protein expression in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma was significantly higher than adjacent mucosa, STAT3 expression level of laryngeal cancer patients’ age, sex, clinical stage, lymph node metastasis, but laryngeal pathological grade and clinical stage light. ALK protein expression in laryngeal squamous cell level is very low, further study the relationship between ALK and laryngeal pending. |
