The Change And Related Factors Of Serum Creatine Kinase Level In Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Objective : To investigate the change and related factors of serum creatine kinase(CK)level in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS).Methods : The study collected 81 cases of the Second Affiliated Hospital,Nanchang University,from January 2006 to December 2015 who were Clinical diagnosed of ALS,A total of 99 health persons were enrolled as control group,compared CK level between the two groups.To clarify related factors of ALS patients’ serum CK change,the ALS patients were divided into different groups according to different gender,ang,onset sites,duration and severity of illness and compared the difference of CK between the different groups.Results :(1)The serum CK level of ALS group(233.92±216.91 IU/L)was significantly higher than the control group(101.81±34.28 IU/L)(P=0.000).(2)The serum CK level in male ALS group(270.47±243.58 IU/L)was higher than the female group(152.04±103.77 IU/L),significant difference(P=0.017).(3)The ALS patients according to age were divided into ≤40 years old group、41-60 years old group、>60years old groups,the serum CK level was 335.95±323.95 IU/L、236.89±233.45 IU/L、193.85±112.54 IU/L respectively,there was no significant difference between the 3groups(P=0.625).(4)The ALS patients according to onset sites were divided into lower limb group、upper limb group、bulb group,serum CK level was 342.40±285.53IU/L、191.42±133.87 IU/L、96.20±49.39 IU/L respectively,there was significant difference between the 3 groups(P=0.000);comparative analysis within the three groups,the lower limb group was significantly higher than upper limb group and bulb group(P=0.008,P=0.000),the upper limb group was significantly higher than bulb group(P=0.002).(5)The ALS patients according to duration were divided into ≤1years group、1~3 years group、>3 years group,the serum CK level was195.52±180.53IU/L、323.36±269.49 IU/L、142.12±26.67 IU/L respectively,there was significant difference between the 3 groups(P=0.005);comparative analysis within the three groups,the 1~3years group was significantly higher than ≤1 years group and >3 years group(P=0.002,P=0.044),there were not significant difference between ≤1 yearsgroup and >3 years group(P=0.974).(6)The ALS patients according to ALSFRS-R score were divided into<36 group、36~40 group、>40 group,the serum CK level was218.90±254.40 IU/L、260.25±211.39 IU/L、230.24±198.11 IU/L respectively,there was significant difference between the 3 groups(P=0.045),comparative analysis within the three groups,36~40 group was significantly higher than <36 group(P=0.006),the rest had no significant difference(P=0.137,P=0.379).Conclusion : The serum CK level of ALS patients obviously increased,especially male and limbs onset patients.The serum CK level has correlation with the duration and severity of illness of ALS patients,With the development of duration and severity of illness of ALS patients,the level of serum CK was increased at an early stage of ALS,and decreased in the later stage.
