ObjectiveWith the popularity of assisted reproductive technology(ART) and the increase in population of ART, the security of assisted reproductive technology has caused the public’s extensive concern and doubt. The objective of this subject is to study the risk of pregnancy and offspring health of ART and to evaluate the safety of ART.MethodsA total of 250 patients with ART therapy for clinical single pregnancy and maternity in reproductive center of Jiangxi Province Maternity And Child Care and finally have childbirth in obstetrical department of Jiangxi Province Maternity And Child Care, during September,2010 to September,2012, as study group(Group ART).Choose 250 pregnant women with similar nature single pregnancy and childbirth time according to their age randomly,as controls(Group NC).We have a detailed record of pregnancy complications、childbirth complications、childbirth way, birth gestational age, birth weight, Apgar’s score and the presence of birth defects through medical record and telephone follow-up. Input all data into SPSS18.0 statistical software to analysis both two groups.Count data describe with the frequency and the relative, comparison between groups with test or fisher method, measurement data use ±standard deviation to describe, t-test for the group comparison. P<0.05 means the difference was statistically significant, and P<0.01 means the difference was remarkable statistically significant.Results1、ART group mothers’ average age was older than the natural pregnancy(NC) group(32.3±3 VS 27.2±4),statistical significance was found between these two groups. ART group’s gravidity was more than NC group, parity was less than ART group and statistical significance was also found between these two groups. There was statistical significance between these two groups in gestational week, while ART group’s gestational week was less than NC group.2、Compare ART group’s pregnancy complications with NC group, the later group was less.ART group’s rate of premature birth、gestational hypertension、gestational diabetes mellitus and hydramnion was higher than NC group.ART group’s rate of anemia is less than NC group. The difference was statistical significant. We also found that ART group’s rate of premature delivery、intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy 、 preterm premature rupture of memberane 、 hydramnion and placental abruption was higher than NC group. There wasn’t statistical significance between these two groups. ART group’s rate of placenta previa 、 oligohydramnion 、abnormal attachment and fetal growth restriction(FGR) is less than NC group. There wasn’t statistical significance between these two groups,too.3、There was statistical significance between ART group and NC group in Cesarean section rate. ART group was higher than NC group(60.8% VS 38.8%).4、There wasn’t significant differences between two groups in new born’s birth weight、birth defects、asphyxia rate、newborn mortality and neonatal pediatric treatment.Conclusion1、There weren’t significant differences between ART singletons and NC singletons in the risk of pregnancy and birth outcomes, so we could evaluate assisted reproductive technology(ART) was safe.2、We suggest a single embryo transfer to reduce the risk of pregnancy、preterm birth and low birth weight.3、We found that ART single pregnancy could cause higher complication rate of gestational hypertension、gestational diabetes mellitus、 hydramnion and placenta adherence. These tips ART process itself was also associated with pathological pregnancy.4、We should control ART indications strictly, improve clinical ART operation and to minimize the physical intervention in ART. The key of current ART clinical application is to strengthen the ART pregnancy care, take an active prevention and treatment of pregnancy complications.5、Cesarean delivery rate of ART group was obviously higher than that of NC group. We also suggest vaginal delivery to reduce cesarean delivery rate because cesarean section damage is bigger and have more complications.
