Acer truncatum Bunge.,as one of the unique tree species and widely planted in the northern of China which germplasm was rich in resources. It was not only widely used as ornamental ones, but also as edible ones.In order to find out the further edible use of the ornamental Acer truncatum,we take 23 different strains of Acer truncatum as control samples in Taian of Shandong province, the contents of main functional ingredients such as total flavonoids and chlorogenic acid were analyzed. At the same time,The morphological characteristics of the leaves of the Acer truncatum were determined, and the content of the medicinal constituents of the leaves of the Acer truncatum in different harvesting periods was determined, which provided the theoretical basis for further determination of the best harvest period of the edible Acer truncatum. The main conclusions were as follows:1.Seasonal variation trend of TFC was the smallest in April. With the increase of the month, the TFC in ATL increased and reached its highest level in June. The phenomenon of sharp decrease occurred from June to July, after that, the changes in August,September and October were small, and the content gradually became stable. In June,it was the best harvest time for the ATL of TFC.In June, the TFC in different strains was significantly different, with the highest content of 6-1 being twice as much as the lowest grade of 2014-1.The content of the 6 family was the highest, with an average value of 30.8218 mg/g,the lowest of the non-anthocyanin strain LV,which was 20.8854 mg/g.AGC's seasonal variation trend rapidly increases from April to May and reaches the top.May-August is declining and the content becomes the minimum in August. After, there was a slow growth, but during August,September and October, the variation was small and the content gradually leveled off.The best harvest time for the ATL of CGA in May.In May,the CGA in different strains was significantly different, with the highest content of the product line 2014-3,which was 6 times of the lowest content in 2016-3.The average content of the four strains in 2014 was the highest, with the average of 543.62?g,and the lowest average content in family 11,which was 221.43?g/g.2.The correlation analysis of the morphological traits and medicinal components of the leaves of Acer truncatum showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the length and the crack length of the ATL and the TFC of in April, the correlation coefficients were 0.495*and 0.504*.But the leaf angle with the TFC was extremely significantly negatively correlation, the correlation coefficient was-0.552**,according to the results of this period, the longer the leaf segments and lobes of Acer truncatum, the smaller the base angle of leaf blade, that is,The higher the TFC,conversely, the lower the TFC.In October, the leaf width, crack width and leaf base angle of the maple leaf were significant positive correlation with its TFC,and the corresponding correlation coefficients were 0.419*,0.440*and 0.493*respectively,indicating that in this stage,The longer the width of the fragments and lobes, the larger the base angle of the leaves is,that is,the broad-leafed Acer truncatum, the higher the TFC.On the contrary, the lower the TFC,the width of the lobes. There was also a significant positive correlation between width of the maple leaf and the TFC,with a correlation coefficient of 0.440*.In the future,we may try the above breeding methods that indirectly select the TFC by using the length-width characteristics of the leaf shape. In the morphological observation, the TFC can be estimated from the characteristics of the ATL.3.The results showed that the contribution rate of the first, second principal component and the third principal component to the leaf shape of the Acer truncatum were 47.846%,21.128%and 12.085%,respectively,which were the leaf size factor, petiole factor, medicinal ingredient of leaf factor.According to the characteristics of leaves, the 23 strains were divided into 5 populations according to the first two principal components, and the 23 strains were divided into 6 populations. The two taxonomies are roughly the same for several provenances.4.According to the leaf area,TFC and CGA of the ATL of 23 strains in Shandong Province, using the TOPSIS evaluation model was constructed for quality evaluation, which was simple and easy to use and intuitive in expression.2014-2,2014-N,2014-3,1-4,1-6,1-1 and strains of LV,‘Luhong No.1'can be used as high quality edible strains of Acer truncatum.5.According to the results of edible quality evaluation and the excellent ornamental traits of 23 strains,we obtained seven strains of the further edible use of the ornamental,including1-1,1-6 and 2014-2,2014-N and 2014-3,LV and‘Luhong No.1'.These results suggested that,in addition to the separate study on the colorful tree species-Acer truncatum of its ornamental and edible properties,we can also try to cultivate the further edible use of the ornamental of Acer truncatum and fully study its useful and utilization. The comparison of the functional ingredients of different clones among families and families revealed the necessity of selection within the families of Acer truncatum.
