Investigation On Insect Species Of Grain Storage In Hubei Province

Stored grain insects mainly refers to the existence of insects,mites during the storage of grains,broadly,including rodents,and even birds and other harmful animals and their natural enemies.Stored grain insects are a special ecological group in agricultural pests resided in warehouses,processing plants and farm households and other places,detrimental to grains,its by-product,food,feed,oil,beans,dried fruits and other storage,causing huge economic loss.Stored grain insects can not only cause food quantity damages,but also seriously pollute the grain,resulting in a decline of food quality.Therefore,it is very important to clarify the species and distribution of stored grain insects and their natural enemies for the control and prediction of stored grain insects.Hubei Province as China’s grain province,with a treasure of Jianghan Plain,is an important base of national grain production,processing and storage.As the stored grain insects jeopardize grains extremely,therefore,it is of great importance to research Hubei area of stored grain insects and its natural enemies.It is evident that the species and flora distribution of stored grain insects is of fundamental and guiding significance for grain production,processing,storage,grain trade,and pest control.This paper is a scientific summary of the survey data of the Seventh National Special Survey of Stored Grain insects and mites of Hubei Area.(hereinafter referred to as “insect survey”).According to the geographical conditions and climatic characteristics of Hubei Province,from August,2016 to November,2016,Wuhan,Jingzhou,Jingmen,Enshi,Xiangyang,Xianning,Huanggang were investigated about the grain storage insects species,distribution,damage and prevention of the occurrence in the field.7 orders,29 families,42 genera,58 species specimens are identified by the collection a large number of stored grain specimens,access to a lot of insect information and literature,the usage of insect morphology taxonomy and anatomical methods.In addition,9 other specimens are currently unidentified remaining to be verified in the future.According to the preliminary findings of the survey in the insect survey,to determine the main pests of Hubei Province in the grain depot are : Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky 、 Cryptolestes ferrugineus(Stephens)、 Tribolium castaneum(Herbst)、 Lasioderma serricorne(Fabricius)、Cryptolestes pusillus(Sch ǒ nherr)、 Sitotroga cerealella(Olivier)、 Oryzaephilus surinamensis(Linnaeus)、Ahasverus advena(Waltl)、Typhaea stercorea(Linnaeus)。The main pests in the processing plant are Tribolium castaneum(Herbst)、 Lasioderma serricorne(Fabricius)、 Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky 、 Oryzaephilus surinamensis(Linnaeus)、Cryptolestes ferrugineus(Stephens)、Cryptolestes pusillus(Schǒnherr)、Lasioderma serricorne(Fabricius)、 Ahasverus advena(Waltl)、 Cryptolestes turcicus(Grouvelle)、 Alphitobius laevigatus(Fabricius)、 Palorus beesoni Blair 、 Palorus subdepressus(Wollaston)、 Alphitobius diaperinus(Panzer)、 Latheticus oryzae Waterhouse、Palorus ratzeburg(Wissmann)。The main pests in the farmer are Sitophilus zeamais Motschulsky、Lasioderma serricorne(Fabricius)、Tribolium castaneum(Herbst)、Sitotroga cerealella(Olivier)、 Ahasverus advena(Waltl)、 Cryptolestes ferrugineus(Stephens)、 Carpophilus mutilatus Erichson 、 Plodia interpunctella(Hübener)、Callosobruchus chinensis(Linnaeus)。The dominant species of the natural enemies of the pests are Lariophagus distinguendus(Duftschmid)in the grain depots,processing plants and farmers.A total of 50 colorful images of 48 stored grain insects are recorded with utility of photomicrography and 3D splicing processing technology,and the photos are clear and available for later observation and data exchange.
