| Drought and water shortages were the key factors that restricted the growth of ground cover plants and turf grasses in Jing-Jin-Ji Area and it had a serious impact on further improving the region’s landscape level.The selection and application of the ground cover plants and drought-resistant turf grasses germplasm resources in the rural land would be helpful to save the water for landscaping and alleviate the contradiction between urban green space irrigation and residents’ life in the arid and semi-arid Jing-Jin-Ji Area.Breeding Demonstration Base of rural land’s ground cover plants and drought-resistant turf grass germplasm resources shouldered the heavy responsibilities of variety introduction,promotion and demonstration and it also played a very important role in promoting water-saving gardens and improving the urban landscape effect of Jing-Jin-Ji Area.This paper was divided into two chapters.Based on the introduction background information,according to ecology,integrity,economy,and sustainable design principles,and combined with base function orientation,the first chapter took Mongolian grasses and Jing-jin-ji Area rural ground cover plants demonstration base as the case and divided the base into five functional areas:turf grasses R&D area,rural ground cover plants display area,turf production area,sports turf display area and ornamental grasses display area.The first chapter made detailed design and description of the product variety,planting technology and maintenance management methods of the various functional areas.Based on the planning and design and equivalent curing condition,the second chapter did the field adaptability evaluation to the 49 Kentucky bluegrass,66 tall fescues,34 Perennial Ryegrass and 25 Agrostis palustris in turfgrass Germplasm Resources Garden.The results showed that:1.In Poa Pratensis,Apollo turf quality score was significantly higher than that of midnight 2,K.B.G and so on;Rhapsody and other leaves were notably wider than PST-T10-18;Nu Destiney and other leaves appeared dark green,while Euromyth,K.B.G and other leaves’ green color became shallow markedly.2.In Tall Fescue cultivars,GreenLabel turf quality score was significantly higher than that of the Shenandoah Ⅲ(SH 3);Millennium Ⅱ leaves were markedly wider than that of the Summer.3.In Perennial Ryegrass,the turf quality score of Pangea was significantly higher than that of Replicator;evening shade,Replicator leaves were notably wider than that of Nuspeed Ⅱ,Pangea and so on.4.In Agrostis palustris,Alpha turf quality score was significantly higher than that of the Tiger.Tiger leaves were significantly wider than that of the Penn A-l and C8-13-OCV6-BS;Alpha vanes appeared dark green,while FOCUS(SRP-1GMC)leaves’green color became shallow’ markedly. |
