In this experiment, lactatingdairy cows were used as the research object.effects of the compositae artemisia annua extracts on VFA in the rumen, performance in the lactating Holstein dairy cows, and effects of CLA content and milk fat composition in dairy cows were also analyzed.Fifteen holstein dairy cows were divided into 3 groups randomly according to their milk yield(22.8±1.8 kg/d),body weight(600±29 kg)and lactation period(158±3 d),and animalexperiment were 40 days including 1-9 days for adaptation and 10-40 days for sampling. In the control group, the experimental Holstein dairy cows were fed with the basal diet, and for the other 2 experimental groups were fed with the basal diet supplemented with 96 g artemisia annua extracts(experimental group 1),and 160 g artemisia annua extracts(experimental group2).The results showed that no significant were found in the ruminal concentrations of acetate and pH value(P>0.05);Two experimental group apparently decreased the ruminal concentrations of butyrate and propionate(P<0.05);compared with the control group, the ruminal concentrations of isovaleratein the experimental group was apparentlydecreased, and there was a significant difference between the experimental group 1 and experimental group2(P<0.05);ruminal concentrations of valerate is higher than the experimental group in the control group, and there was a significant difference between the control group and experimental group2(P<0.05).compared with the control group, supplumentatin of Artemisia annua extracts for milk yield, milk fat percentage, milk protein percentage, milk tota lsolid content,non-fat milk solid content, lactose percentage, here were no significant differences among all groups(P>0.05).However,the conjugated linoleic acid in the experimental group 1 and experimental group2 was increased by 30.7%,38.6%,respectively,and there was a significant difference between the control group and experimental group2(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, milk fat of saturated fatty acid, unsaturated fatty acid, monounsaturated fatty acid, polyunsaturated fatty acid, shot chain fatty, medium fatty and long chain fatty acid, here were no significant differences among all groups(P>0.05).
