With an increasing market demand of Lycium ruthenicum,to improve the fruit quality and quantity as well as expand its planting areas are the foundation for the economic benefit it has far-reaching significance. Thus,in this study,Lycium ruthenicum originated from Gansu and Xinjiang were chosen, and their salinity resistance and fruit quality were evaluated.then, the superior provenance was determined and popularized in Heju town Zhaodong city. Finally, the superior families, which have a better growth and high yields were carefully selected. The result indicated that, the highest frequency of seed germination was obtained in 25 mmol·L-1 under different concentrations of salt stresses, suggesting lower salt stress has positive effect on Lycium ruthenicum seed germination.During the seeds germination, the germination parameters decreased along with the increasing of concentrations of salty, while the opposite results happened in relative salt-injury rate. However, higher concentration of salty could lead to seed germination blocked and non-development.There were significant differences in seed germination of Lycium ruthenicum from 2 sources under different pH values treatments. The seeds germination parameters decreased along with the increasing pH values, while the relations with salt damage coefficient and pH values are the opposite.Compared to seed source originated from Xinjiang, the seed germination efficiency, germination potential, germination index, and vitality index were higher than that of seed source from Gansu. However, relative salt-injury rate was low.Seeds from Gansu showed better adaption ability under stresses than those from Xinjiang, which is considered as superior family with stronger vitality and resistance to salinity and alkalinity. The several nutrient contents were higher in fruits from Gansu than those from Xinjiang, especially for Ca,Mn,Zn,procyanidins and soluble sugar(p<0.01).In addition, the contents of K and Na were higher in fruits from Gansu than those from Xinjiang, but there were insignificances between each other(p>0.05).Early flowering family, which numbered 1,4,13,24,and 30 were more suitable for introducing and popularizing in warm palces, while late flowering family, which numbered 7,16,and 22 were more optimal for introducing and popularizing in cold places. The source numbered 1,4,5,7,9,13,16,and 36 were early blooming, well developed, and high yields should be considered as superior family with stronger adaption and well development. In contrast, the source numbered 3,11,and 31 with poor development and fewer flowers should be considered as inferior family.
