In the vast land of China,a glorious civilization was born in the long history,and the rural settlement came into being.As a microcosm of Chinese farming civilization,it was born in a specific historical period and social background,and is a comprehensive carrier of history and culture.In Shanxi area,there are many exquisite ancient villages and towns,which bear deep cultural connotation and historical information,showing distinct regional characteristics.Jiaocheng County Duan village is the fifth batch of historical and cultural Village in Shanxi provincial?It has a long history,which is found in historical records in the Western Han Dynasty?Duan village was prosperous in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China.It was one of the birthplaces of Shanxi merchants.It was called "Mini Taigu" in Shanxi.The architectural style belongs to the architectural culture category of Jinzhong.It has both Shanxi Merchants culture and Confucianism.It is a model for studying the rural settlements in Jinzhong.Taking Duan village as a breakthrough point,this paper analyzes the characteristics of Duan village settlement and residences characteristics by combining macroscopic and microscopic research methods.On the macro level,we take the village's natural environment,location,historical evolution and social culture as the starting point to analyze the influencing factors and evolution of the settlement space form.Through the study of family chorus,economic and cultural background and development context in the specific historical period,the development law and spatial characteristics of the village settlement form are revealed.Then on the micro level,the characteristics of the residence form of the village settlement are studied,and the internal relations and development laws of the residential buildings and the settlement form are analyzed in detail from the aspects of the architectural form,the elements,the space form,the construction technology,the decorative art and so on.Through detailed research and analysis,we will restore the traditional architecture with strong local characteristics and its historical culture in all aspects.Finally,Morphology Analysis of Settlement and Traditional Residences in Duan Village,we excavate the regional characteristics of the traditional settlement,objectively evaluate the present situation and the existing problems of the village settlement,in order to put forward the protection and development measures which are beneficial to the protection of the ancient village history and culture and keep pace with the times,and strive to restore the ancient village of Duan village.
